The 3rd and 5th panel are the most human Thomas has ever looked, I think. Composed, but the yearning still pathetically leaks through because he’s desperate for any kind of reaction. Because he’s a frustrated, rich loser in an outwardly hypermasculine but deeply tender gothic romance with automatic rifles and Taco Bell.
