St. Andral's Church | Vallaki - Illustrated Scene
Each month, I try and pass along the generosity you show me by employing other artists to create a variety of illustrations, portraits, magical items and other works of art that can be used in your games at home, whether they be homebrew or official modules
This week, I wanted to highlight one of those pieces -- one of the many locations from the well-known module, Curse of Strahd -- St. Andral's Church & the village of Vallaki!
Vallaki is one of the largest settlements in Barovia, lying along the Old Svalich Road near Lake Zarovich. In the isolated and cursed lands ruled by Count Strahd von Zarovich, Vallaki stands out as a rare example of civilization: it has sturdy walls, shops, craftsmen, an inn and enough of a population to function as a genuine community.
St. Andral's Church is the spiritual heart of the town and is dedicated to the Morninglord. Its weathered stones are centuries old, with a crooked steeple, stained-glass windows and a graveyard enclosed by an iron fence. The church is named for St. Andral, whose bones were interred beneath its altar. According to the tradition surrounding the saint, those relics make the church hallowed ground, protecting those within from Strahd and the undead. In a town that offers little optimism, the church offers a more meaningful sense of comfort and hope.
The scene above did a great job presenting the church as a bastion of light and warmth against an otherwise cold, dark and bleak surround - a beacon of hope shining through the evening mist.
Here's an example of this section of Vallaki (there are several):
And this is a closer look at the interior of St. Andral's Church & Graveyard:
I hope you enjoy the piece and seeing where some of your support goes!

I'm not sure, but isn't there supposed to be somewhere the second floor to this church? I'm T3
I hadn't originally made a 2nd floor, but I'm not against creating one, if people think there'd be some useful spaces to include?
I still vividly remember the session that took place in this church. Awesome work!
