Map of Faerûn!
Illustrated by Moreno Paissan
Hey guys!
I've worked with artist Moreno Paissan on some other maps, so when I thought about creating a high-level version of Faerûn for an interactive map, he was my first choice.
This beautifully hand-illustrated world map shows a large section of Faerûn, a major continent in the Forgotten Realms world. It represents a variety of well-known locations, such as Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, Icewind Dale & Ten Towns and many more.
Many of these locations may be familiar from adventure modules such as Storm King's Thunder, Lost Mine of Phandelver, Rime of the Frostmaiden and more, making it a great map to use for something interactive. In requesting the map, I had some options for requesting well-known characters along the frame.
Here are the ones that I'd chosen:
Tiamat
Drizzt & Guenhwyvar
Artemis Entreri
Bahamut
Szass Tam
...and Elminster himself.
In addition, there are many creatures scattered about the map, and while many of them are potentially indicative of the kind of creature that may roam those general areas, some of them are more specific to that region, like in Baldur's Gate:
My plan, besides providing an awesome version of this map to you guys, is to create an Interactive Map of this area. Similar to the Phandalin Interactive Map I had created earlier, we will start marking major locations with artwork, basic information, famous NPC's that may reside in those locations and (eventually) the ability to zoom in on those locations for which there are maps (i.e. Phandalin, Triboar, Leilon, Ironslag, etc...).
I hope you enjoy the map, and I'm looking forward to providing more fun ways to navigate the world as a whole for those people basing their campaigns in the area.
If there are other known playing areas that you'd love to see represented in this style, let me know, and I can see about doing the same in the future!

It me, a patron commenting on a 2 month old post ;). First wanted to say this is GORGEOUS. I really unique look and art style! I did have one suggestion/request: since the map is done in a style to make it look like a unfurled parchment I think the edges should be transparent. It really gives it a great look on a digital tabletop when you remove the background. No complaint, just a suggestion. Thanks for commissioning this!
This is insanely beautiful, very well done!
Woooow this is awesome! I’m considering putting this in my dungeon (hobby room 🙈). Well done on the visuals, absolutely stunning
Really cool and interesting map, obviously sponsored by Dagult Neverember though! The largest city in the Sword Coast looks dwarfed by Neverwinter. lol
This is absolute amazing my friend!
Beautiful!
BTW, thank you for all the work you put into these projects. Your passion for D&D is enviable.
I would like to see this larger as well, but the idea to make it interactive is a good one. The FR Interactive Atlas used to do exactly this, but lost support from WOTC.
I may be able to expand upon this with subsequent pieces that flesh out an adjacent area of the world.
What regions like Rashemen, Semphar, Luiren and Halruaa have done to be excluded from Faerun?
Haha, nothing. I don't know that the artist knows there's more of Faerun. ;) I am probably have them do more sections, and maybe see if we can piece it all together at the end for MEGA-map.
Why does Tiamat have nipples???
Mother of Dragons? Haha, artistic liberties I suppose. I imagine even if she did have ripples, that wouldn't be what you noticed. ;)
That’s neat but as someone else said, it’s definitely the Sword Coast. A map of Faerûn as a whole in this style would be very interesting to see to me, a connoisseur of the old lore
Sure, maybe I will see if it can be done in sections like this, but designed to connect, etc...
That's amazing. So much to see. Love all the details
Amazing!
Probably the best Sword Coast map I've laid my eyes on. Amazing stuff.
I agree!
What a beautiful map! Thank you!
Most welcome!
I love the Map Design and all the little Details! But calling it "The Great Map of Faerun" while it's literally just the Sword Coast is wierd tho^^' PS: I would love to see the rest of the western part of faerun since basicly all Adventures play there. I think Calimshan and Chullt do provide great Ideas for such a Map too! Another Hot Call would be a Map of Eberron! Oh and a Map of Barovia perhaps?^^
I may have him adjust the title -- I don't think he's ever played D&D, or at least played in the Forgotten Realms before, so he was just adding what he thought would be cool. ;)
Amazing!!
Glad you enjoy it!
