[Patch] Serious official game patch next Tuesday, Please Read.

--- 1. Safety information ---

I want your saves to be safe. So let's go over what's safe to do. My tone is going to be firm because I want the best outcome for everyone; I understand that can be unpleasant to some but see it comes from good intention.

🚨 Once the patch has installed: 🚨

-         Take out ALL YOUR MODS by ALL modders (CC is usually fine to leave in but make sure it's purely cosmetic)

-         Only add back mods that either have been confirmed BY THE MODDER to be compatible with the patch, or which have been updated for it.

🚫 Don't listen to random people on the internet saying 'it works for me', listen to the modders themselves, as we know what's safe to play with and what's not - appearances in game can be deceiving!!!

🔎 Where to get official mod status info:

This is the only safe way to play after a patch like this. The patch makes changes to GENEALOGY, which is at the core of your Sims’ family structures and relationships. Don’t mess all that up permanently by keeping non-cleared mods installed after the patch :)

---- 2. Re Status of my mods -----

First: it's going to be alright, we can stay calm. I am informing you because knowledge makes preparedness makes good outcomes, but I don't want to worry you for the sake of worrying. We'll get through this patch as we do all others 💙

Modders have received communication from the Sims team in preparation for the patch of  Tuesday February 3rd. Based on what EA has communicated (and THANK YOU for those notes), RPO Collection, Milestones Expanded and Sim Info Manager will break at the February 3rd patch. The CPS overhaul / expansion work in progress also will break.

Of course this information takes into account only what I'm aware of - which are base game changes to genealogy. This patch could also break my mods in myriad other ways, or no more than that, I've no clue yet, we'll see the day of the patch.

RPO collection will break SEVERELY. Fixing it will take general work and potentially changes in the design of some of the mods it contains. An additional area of complication is that at this point I don't know what elements are part of the base game patch and what elements are fully pack locked, but we can assume that there will be a little bit of both which further complicates updating and integrating with the new game changes.

Long story short, the RPO mods won't come back in just a few hours. And even when I have made my updates, due to how core to the game the changes made are, the "patch updated" versions of those mods will need extended testing before they are fully made public (I'm not in the business of breaking people's saves).

I don't know yet how I will approach this considering how small-group testing has always proven complicated. I am just warning you that the updating process will be a bit more complicated (and long) in general for this patch than it has been for most others in the past.

All this to bring me back to point #1: take out your mods after the patch hits :)

Alright, we are done with the doom and gloom. Enjoy the new BG features on Tuesday!
