Let's talk about the GENEALOGY tracking / DNA Testing System again

I mentioned this in my post of the new year, but in case you missed it, let me sum this up again. This stuff has been Partially done and sitting in my to do list for now a year, which is getting pretty stressful.
it was in one of its aspects / settings NEARLY releasable already, and has been for all this time. Due to how I've been so far unable to find time to finish it, I worked on making releasable the aspect of it that was already nearly ready as its own thing.
The M04 paternity mod update mentioned in the year-old post linked above has been in the same situation and hopefully will follow with a release soon.
So, What you ARE getting now:
automatic marking of family members: auto track and auto label for you up to great great grandparents / children, second cousins, first cousins twice removed / great grand aunts / nieces, and such. ("Choice A: all Sims automatically have their DNA in the database, and therefore, all relatives known = all relatives in existence.")
+ auto-tracking of 'marital' extended family for sims in committed relationships (not just married)
What You are NOT getting yet:
gameplay of having the sins discover their relatives through DNA testing, as opposed to auto labeling. ("Choice B: only Sims who decide to do DNA testing appear on the SimLines app and therefore only them exist in its database for other sims to find out a connection to them.")
WHY you aren't getting it yet: that system's core is mostly functional and has been for a year, BUT it does not have reactions, social interactions, etc, which are the parts that matter, so it's not ready to ship out.

HOW THE FAMILY TRACKING WORKS:
You don't need to do anything particular, just putting the files in your mods folder and launching the game, the system will do its work. For the genetic family part, it will also retroactively apply on your existing sims automatically.
It's been given good testing, but this can be fairly COMPLEX / CONVOLUTED so if you notice problems or hiccups, please report!

Based on poll results:
since responders were near unanimous: added in law ans step family members to relationship panel 'family' tab
since responders were very split on this question: added settings to block (or not) romance between step family and / or in law family (in RPO global settings)
When installing this for the first time, it will retroactively read your exiting Sims to draw up their relationships. If you have huge amounts of Sims with lots of relations to each other, when FIRST loading a particular household after installing, the retroactive assigns can make that load screen longer.
DOWNLOAD:
- remove previous version
- grab the RPO Core Library if you don't have it;
- grab the file from this post and put it directly into your mods folder or one subfolder (it's a .package file, so, not extracting!)

why discontinue this? it makes no sense. The game may have updated their tree, but it doesn't allow you to add preexisting sims to the tree

hey! i know that you discontinued this, but will you possibly implant something like being able to befriend distant relatives / adding them to your relationship pannel to RPO in the future? that feature was pretty neat!
Hi, the interaction to see them and click them which added them to the rel panel is still there, it's in rpo core, and shows under 'actions'. It's also part of the 'view / invite Sims by Category' mod. Hope this helps!
How can I allow in law relationships with the RPO mod? I couldn't find this in the settings.
Heya, the setting was removed when M20 and M21 were removed, but it has returned for the next version which is currently in testing, this time adapted to apply to EA stuff (since in-laws are now BG).

Hi, RPO m5 makes it possible for teens to get pregnant. There's also I'm sure mods by other modders that can do that

This is odd and makes me wonder if some other mod has changed to cause this via interference, or if some other broken mod is causing issues. I would need to know more about your exact set up (what other mods you use etc) so we can rule out such interferences. If you are willing to help investigate your situation, come to the Discord server and we can look into all that in depth

My family tree is messed up for one of my sims. Her brother is listed as her Grandmother's brother and a Great Aunt as her sister. Her Mother isn't even listed in family tree. Her Great-grandfather is also listed as her father ( instead of mother) along with her actual father. So now all relationships are wrong, cousins listed as nieces and nephews. I tried to fix with Mccc but correct option are not available. I tried to reset with no luck. This was a same sex female couple who I used a brother as a surrogate. It was always somewhat correct in family tree, but after installing this update it's wrong. everyone else tree seems to be ok, just not this particular sim. Is there a cheat to fix? also could Adeepindigo's "family Connections" be interfering?
Hi, this mod doesn't modify the family tree, but it does read from it, so if the game bugged out on the tree, it will impact what the mod says. If you can fix up your tree you can then re run the m20 calculations by using 'force recalculate' on the phone menu

Hi, no, used to be all relationships showed when hovering there, but then EA changed that and now it's only spouse status, almost, that can show there. It's not really changeable as far as I know, part of the sides of the game that aren't editable

Hello! I don't know if this is just me, but I can't get the bio family tracking to work for my alien child. One of my male sims was abducted and had an alien baby who has now grown up into a child, but according to his family's SimLines app, he doesn't exist, and he himself can't view any living relatives even after I clicked "Force recalculate". In the family tree he's present as the son of Declan (my sim) and the pollination technician, so I'm not sure why the app acts like he isn't part of the family/doesn't have any family.
Hi, alien pregnancies are treated differently from the test, so that is very likely the cause. I'll check to address it
Hi, this is amazing, thank you! One question - would you consider changing the settings on children being conceived by insemination? I have a wlw couple who had children via insemination but for one of the mothers (the on who didn't give birth) the children show up as step-children. Via MCCC I was able to delete the donor from the family tree so he no longer show up as their father, but there is no option to link the children the the other mother as her own (I was waiting at least for an option to adopt them to pop up but it hasn't happened and tweaking via MCCC did not help).
Hi, first we must establish the difference between family tree and relationship statuses / sim profiles. The family tree is the biological aspect, and following reality the donor exists because it is necessary for an egg to be fertilized - while the sim profiles / relationship status are actual life relations and don't care about dna. The mod is told to give the committed partner of a sim doing insemination parental statuses towards the resulting child at birth, because they are parent in terms of actual relationships, regardless of wether they participated biologically or not. Similarly, the donor has such statuses removed, because while they participated the DNA they are not of a relationship of parent. In the sim profiles, the relationship statuses should be correct due to that, but - Now, the game's systems are not really friendly to using such status at certain times. If it skipped it you can manually re add it with Sim Info Manager, adding son/daughter and mother/father respectively

This is literally a must have mod! It's realistic and adds a lot to the game so it's not a hollow game. SO worth the early access! :) ♥ Perfect to pair with Pandasama's Childbirth Mod! :)
