Hey folks,
As the patrons know we're kicking off a month celebrating the first year of /noclip as we descend on our 10th Birthday on September 12th.
As part of these videos I wanted to do a Q&A for the folks who are not on our Patreon, so if you have any questions about the work we do, our best and worst moments, the docs we've filmed (or didn't!) or just about anything - please stick them in the comments here (or in the video) and I'll answer as many as I can in an upcoming video.
Thank you all so much for following our work over the past decade. We hope you enjoy the videos we have planned as we hit that red letter day.
I'll be honest the Patron-submissions video already has me tearing up.
Talk soon,
Danny

In dealing with a large library of unplayed games and limited time, what is your advice on Backlog Paralysis, or Choice Overload?
If you were starting from scratch this year, how would you go about it and what advice would you give from your experience? 2026 is a wild time!
I've always appreciated the tendency towards a neutral and (what I think is) timeless tone the documentaries and interviews have taken. Do you think this "journalist"ish approach to tone is still viable, even creatively, or do you think you'll be needing to add more time period-specific personality, "philosophical" (possibly political?) commentary ingredients to keep things interesting for yourself and the audience? You can tell which way I'd prefer, but I'm less interested in critiquing an approach and more interested in just generally your perspective on what you think and why, as you have a deeper awareness of the games media space, and it could inspire some fun conversations about it.
Please make a Giant Bomb documentary! Starting from Jeff Gerstmann leaving gamespot and starting Arrow Pointing Down, to now with the new guys! Would be amazing!!
I am interested in your personal backgrounds in game journalism from before noclip
I'd like to know if the crew would be interested in making an updated, in-depth video/series on your gear and production workflow from pre to post. After 10 years it would be awesome to hear you look back on the way you operated at the start of noclip vs. now. I'm in the early days of a big game doc and I'm streamlining my process based on what I'm learning day-by-day, but a big new breakdown from you legends would be invaluable.
First of all, I want that Sanic and Knackles shirt.
Around the time that Mick Gordon and Id were releasing statements and receipts relating to the Doom Eternal soundtrack, I saw some prior content reposted on the channel related to some of Mick’s work and process. Was that noclip coming out in support of Mick? Have your views on the matter changed at all over time?
Will you ever come to do some coverage of the UK studios? (I still hold out hopes for Introversion)
If you had to pick one other person (or group) to have started NoClip instead, who would it be? (Not that we'd have it any other way, NoClip is uniquely shaped by you, of course.)
How's the ongoing HL3 documentary filming/editing going? Is it going to be long and likely need to be multiple videos? Haha just messing around, being a bit cheeky :P but after the awesome HL1/HL2 docos you did it'd make sense you'd be across a HL3 one if it existed.
With Danny's love of F1, have you ever considered doing a doc on a racing simulator? I started following Shift-F1 through noclip, which really fed my budding love of racing. The Microsoft Flight Sim was one of my favorite pieces from noclip; I'd be curious if any of the team are interested in diving into the intricacies of simulating cars or if you prefer to stick to more artistic ventures.
Hey danny, I was wondering what's the current status of Stun Derby, has this been abandoned or are you guys still working on it?
What was the worst shooting day any of you can remember?
What was the worst shooting day any of you can recall?
Who was the one that got away? The one you could have possibly interviewed but can't (studio closures, or person has left the place you wanted to cover)
Have there been any documentaries that you did some filming on but then shelved it?
Where's the merch?
I wanted to send in a video. But kids, house, and more...just the schedule didn't allow for it. A lot has changed over these 10 years. The parallels with Danny—dad life, mental health journey—have been amazing to have in that parasocial interaction kind of way. Rocket League hooked me & I'm looking forward continuing this journey for years to come with you all. 🎉
With studio docs in the rear view so-to-speak, what doc was the most challenging but invigorating? Which studio have you the hardest time?
What outside perspective on games or an aspect of games has influenced/changed your own view in the last 10 years? I was thinking about these blind spots when ntheogen in his recent question on the podcast talked about how their partner was baffled about games being shipped with bugs.
Are you going to go back to Stunt Derby?
1) Have you ever started investigating one story and ended up discovering a completely different, more interesting one? 2) Do you see Noclip’s documentaries primarily as journalism, entertainment, or as an archive of video game history? Has that changed over time? 3) What’s the hardest part of turning years of development history into a compelling story?
What is some dad wisdom you can share with us gamer dads? Specifically, how have you approached the Roblox era of gaming with a kid? I really wanted to not let my daughter join, but with all her friends only having tablets to play on, it has been nearly impossible for us to avoid for fear of her feeling left out of playing games with friends.
Question for anyone/everyone: what's been the single most important mistake you've made on a project? That is, what's the mistake that taught you the most and/or informed your subsequent work the most? Doesn't have to be about a documentary necessarily (could be the managerial side for Danny or game dev side for Jeremy).
Is there a documentary you wish you could redo or do a follow up on, after the success of the game or it failing to meet expectations?
What are your favourite and least favourite video game controllers? Also, what's the weirdest one you can think of?
Any chance for a Dadcast (update) with Jesse? I appreciate all of y'all immensely, nocaps included!
I'm a huge Wipeout fan and I loved the short doc on CoLD SToRAGE. However, I know that you had some issues getting things lined up with the Psygnosis/Studio Liverpool guys. I just wondered what were those issues and do you think you will ever get round to doing it? Side note - I would love it if you did a feature on Designers Republic's work on the series.
Also, where do Clark Kent's clothes go when he gets changed in a phone booth? Is the next caller just walking in to find a full, clean discarded suit, tie & brogues?
With GenAI in game dev being a very hot button topic and with "AI" ten years ago simply being how we referred to CPU enemy logic... What horizon technologies do you expect we might be discussing in depth at year 20? Anything or any sub-element that you think "Hmmm... I wouldn't be surprised if that's influential in the next 10 years"?
What did you learn about the process of game development that you didn't know before NoClip?
Can we have a special about the crew's all time favourite games ? I would especially love to hear Danny talking about Amiga classics ;)
How much of an (positive/negative) effect do you see AI generative tools being on the Gaming industry? Is it going to change the way games are made fundamentally for the foreseeable future or will the pushback from both consumers and artists/designers be enough to course correct?
What's favorite, or least favorite, back-end part of making these docs happen?
How much storage have you dedicated to archival of your own footage at this point? Do you keep the raw footage after a project's complete or only archive the export/encode? Also, what's the most danger any of you has ever been in as a direct result of work for noclip?
If the crew had dinner together and were allowed to bring one guest, from the video games industry in the past 10 years. Who would those guests be?
Which games did you love most and had the most impact on you when you were kids? OR What was your very first computer you played games on and what are the games you remember from it?
Was there ever an incident in the gaming cultural zeitgeist where you legitimately thought "Oh god, they were right. Gamers are complete degenerates" and what was it?
Please could you make documentary of spiderweb software?
What were some docs that almost happened but fell through before they began? Like opportunities that never solidified or project partners backing out for whatever reason.
Who’s the biggest diva? People say it’s Frank, but I think it’s Jeremy
Any particularly interesting moments that stick out to you from all the interviews that happened when the cameras weren't rolling?
Are there any documentaries you've wanted to do - maybe a personal favorite game or series - that you held off on because you didn't think there would be enough viewer interest?
What's everyone at Noclip's personal favorite doc? Either to watch, or to produce/film?
Personal favourite documentary you have done, each of you.
