I always appreciate when a mod author release their content to the public. I understand the struggles of maintaining a living and being a mod author which is why I believe patreon is a great medium to support those who wish create mods. It allows you to continue to do what you love while allowing others to enjoy it as well. I know that releasing mods to the public comes with the potential cost of people using/sharing your assets against your wishes, but know you will always have supporters who will back you in more ways than just monetary donations.
