Always do your compound lifts first, kids

gotta learn how to bail out!
Talks about the importance of properly set up the safety pins 🤷♂️
High school is where I learned that too. I think that's the only place I ever did squats. I do recall being intimidated by the guys who would hang out there to work on squats to really do it much.
I'm not familiar with gyms, so are people watching out or is he doing something really dumb by doing this alone?
It depends on the gym. Some have more active employees that monitor the floor for people not using the equipment safely. Most places though want to charge extra to have someone help you like a personal trainer though I would hope if anyone needed a spotter they'd just do it while they were out on the floor. At least it's was like that when I went to LA Fitness in the mind 2000's. Places like Planet Fitness seem like they might be more engaging with the people at their gyms but I haven't been.
Prediction, the professor is going to be the one to come to his rescue and that's how we'll get the story rolling further
And that's why you should always have a spotter.
I'm horribly out of shape and never really worked out and even I know that, oof! Compound lifts was technobabble to me (this is doubling as minor education to me, much like Kyell Gold's Out of Position books and football), but I remembered the spotter thing from high school gym class.
Hahahahahaha....hahaha....haha...ha...yeah i made the same mistake XD
