Mortis Invicta — The Bug Hunt Build + Progress Report
Hey guys,
As usual, I need some help from those of you who have the time to do some bug hunting for Mortis Invicta before the early access release on September 30th.
If you’ve been following my regular progress reports, you probably already know that I’ve added a ton of new screens and systems this month: main quest tracking, daily ship duties, inventory, the utilities screen, crew manifest, and several other systems that are now starting to connect with each other.
And honestly...
THE AMOUNT OF NUMBERS BEING TRACKED IN THE BACK END IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!!
So if you have some time and don’t mind running into bugs, feel free to help me test the build.
BUT—
If you’d rather play a relatively bug-free build, give me about 5 days to play through this game for probably the 100th time and kill these bugs one by one.
Alright, here’s what I managed to get done this week:
Connected all the screens and systems I’ve been building since the beginning of the month, so they now start working together as one gameplay loop.
Created the scenario for when a retinue member reaches 100% Corruption.
Corruption can come from countdown events, or from failing psychic-related cases in the Damage Control Cogitator.Testing and balancing all the numbers.
AND THIS TAKES FOREVER.
Even now, I’m still not 100% sure everything is properly balanced. I really hope it all runs smoothly though...Added ship damage stats, so the condition of the voidship can actually change depending on what the player does.

The Difficult Part
One of the things making development pretty heavy is that all three retinue members can travel around the ship with you.
That means a single event can have several different dialogue variations depending on who is accompanying Greg.
So yeah... the amount of dialogue I have to write can blow up very quickly.
Tiring? Yes.
But I still really like this system, because once the foundation is strong enough, it’ll be much easier for me to keep adding new events without having to rebuild everything from scratch.
I think the hardest part right now is really the initial setup of all the systems and stats.
So please bear with me while this part is still a little messy.
Once the foundation is stable, adding story content should become much easier.
And that matters because I want to add a lot of NSFW events as the retinue slowly becomes more degraded by Warp corruption.
This will be an alternative source of sexy content outside the romance routes.
Because maybe some of you aren’t really into grinding romance and would rather see something a little more... chaotic.
Systems I Still Want to Add
There are still a few systems I want to implement later:
Ship Farming
Since the food stores keep deteriorating, the player will eventually need to start producing food on the ship. One idea is growing crops in hydroponic or glass containers.Workbench / Tool Crafting
Your voidship is heavily damaged, so the player will eventually need to craft or repair tools to keep the ship running.More Sexy Combat
Yep.
More encounters, more corruption-related situations, and more ways to make combat feel... very Mortis Invicta.
For now, my main focus is still just one thing:make the whole damn thing work without exploding.
May the Emperor protect.
Cheers,
Celeng
