A Different Approach to Storytelling (And Free Demo Tomorrow!)
Hello friends!
Today I want to talk a little about the structure of the new game, because this is one of the biggest changes compared to the first Inquisitor Trainer.
And before anything else, some exciting news:
The Free Demo Will Be Released Tomorrow!
The first public demo of the game will be available tomorrow, and it will be completely free for everyone to play.
This demo will serve as the introduction to the first episode/chapter, giving players their first look at the new direction of the game.
You will be able to experience the opening story, meet some of the characters, explore the new systems, and get a feel for the new gameplay structure.
Because this is not simply Inquisitor Trainer 1 with a new story.
The design philosophy is very different, and the demo is meant to introduce players to how this new adventure will work.
A New Chapter-Based Adventure
Unlike the first game, this project will follow a different approach to storytelling.
The first Inquisitor Trainer used a more traditional long-form visual novel structure: one large continuous storyline that expanded with every update.
While that allowed the story and characters to keep growing, there was also a downside — especially from a player's perspective.
A story like that can eventually start feeling endless.
Every update adds another piece, but the conclusion always seems somewhere further away. Players are always waiting for the next major event, the next continuation, the next resolution.
For this game, I want to try something different.
Instead of one massive storyline, the new game will be divided into chapters/episodes.
Think less like a modern streaming series where every episode mainly exists to build toward a final conclusion...
And more like classic 90s sci-fi television.
A new adventure each time.
A new mystery.
A new problem for the Inquisition to solve.
Each chapter will have:
A new location
A new main conflict
New NPCs
Unique choices
Its own multiple endings
For example:
One episode might take place on a troubled Forge World, investigating secrets buried beneath ancient machinery.
Another might send the Inquisitor and crew into the dark corridors of an abandoned Space Hulk.
Each chapter is designed as its own complete experience.
New Worlds, New Characters, New Problems
Every episode will introduce new characters connected to that specific story.
Some may become allies.
Some may become enemies.
Some may simply be unfortunate souls who attracted the attention of the Inquisition.
Your decisions will decide how their stories end.
Some characters or events might be referenced again in future episodes, but they are not designed to become massive unresolved storylines that require years of waiting.
When you finish a chapter, the goal is that you feel like you completed a real adventure.
A More Flexible Development Structure
This format also brings practical advantages.
As a story grows larger and larger, branching paths become increasingly difficult to maintain.
One decision from months ago can unexpectedly create problems much later.
A character who survived in one route but died in another needs to be considered forever.
Over time, the story becomes heavier, harder to test, and easier to break.
By making episodes more independent, each chapter can mostly contain its own variables, choices, and consequences.
If there is a bug in Episode 3, it should remain an Episode 3 problem.
Finding it, fixing it, and improving the experience becomes much easier.
Easier to Return Anytime
This also makes the game much friendlier for returning players.
Missed several updates?
No problem.
You don't need to replay hours and hours of older content just to understand what is happening.
You can jump into a new episode and enjoy that adventure.
Every chapter is built to stand on its own.
But the Main Story Still Exists...
Of course, this does not mean there is no larger narrative.
The Inquisitor, the main crew, and the mysteries surrounding them will continue developing across the entire journey.
Each episode will reveal small pieces of the bigger picture:
Who these characters are.
What happened before.
Where their journey is heading.
But this story will unfold gradually in the background.
It will not be one giant cliffhanger where everyone has to wait years before finally reaching the answer.
The focus will always be the adventure in front of you.
I hope this new structure gives the best of both worlds:
A continuing journey with familiar characters...
But also complete adventures that can be enjoyed individually.
A galaxy as large as the Imperium should feel endless — full of different worlds, different people, and different disasters requiring an Inquisitor's attention.
And starting tomorrow, everyone will be able to experience the beginning of that journey with the free demo release.
