Submissive & Dominance — Expanding Cordelia’s Romance Path
As Inquisitor Trainer continues moving toward its later chapters, I’ve been spending a lot of time looking back at the earlier parts of the game and thinking about how much the project has evolved since its first versions.
Some of the older scenes, locations, and NPCs were created when the scope of the game was still much smaller. Over time, the world became larger, the writing became more ambitious, and many of the newer characters and systems naturally received more depth and complexity. Because of that, I feel that some of the earlier content deserves another pass — not just fixes or visual touch-ups, but genuine expansion.
So over the next updates, I want to begin revisiting older scenes and important NPCs to give them more polish and more meaningful interactions:
additional dialogue options
rewritten conversations
new event scenes
improved pacing
expanded character reactions
more dynamic relationships
additional artwork and expressions
and, naturally… romance content
The first major character I want to focus on is Inquisitor Cordelia.
From the beginning of the game, there were already hints that the relationship between the Inquisitor and their acolyte carried a certain tension beneath the surface. Moments of trust, obedience, dependence, rivalry, loyalty, and personal attachment have always existed between them in subtle ways. I originally intended those moments to slowly build toward something larger, but at the time the game simply wasn’t developed enough for me to fully explore it.
Now I finally want to turn those hints into a proper relationship path.
Cordelia’s romance will not be a simple “happy romance” route. The relationship between an Inquisitor and their acolyte is inherently unequal, and I want the route to embrace that reality rather than ignore it. The dynamic will revolve around themes of authority, devotion, control, emotional dependence, discipline, and shifting submissive-dominance roles between mentor and subordinate.
At times Cordelia may take control.
At other times the player may shape the direction of the relationship instead.
The goal is to create a romance that feels intense, complicated, and deeply tied to the atmosphere of the setting rather than something disconnected from it.
Most importantly: this route is designed specifically for the Loyalist path.
Acolytes who remain faithful to the Imperium, loyal to their duty, and committed to Cordelia’s cause will gradually unlock deeper interactions and personal moments with her as trust develops over the course of the story.
Heretics, radicals, and those who fully embrace corruption can forget about it.
Cordelia is many things, but forgiving betrayal of the Imperium is not one of them.
I also want this rework to make older characters feel more reactive and alive overall. Many early NPCs were created before I had a clearer vision of how relationship progression should work in Inquisitor Trainer, and revisiting them now gives me the chance to bring them closer to the quality and depth of the newer content.
This is only the beginning. There are several other characters and older storylines I eventually want to revisit as well, but Cordelia felt like the right place to start.
And finally, I want to sincerely thank all of you for your patience, support, feedback, and encouragement throughout the development of this project. Inquisitor Trainer has grown far beyond what I originally imagined, and none of that would have been possible without the people supporting it month after month. Your support gives me the freedom and motivation to keep expanding the game, improving older content, and pushing the project further than I could have done alone.
Thank you again for staying with me on this journey.
