Mommy <3
Yesterday, August 14th, at 11:00 PM, my little Coco went into labor. During the night, she gave birth to seven puppies, four males and three females. Unfortunately, one male and one female were stillborn, despite my every attempt to revive them with cardiac massage and suctioning of fluids from their airways.
It was a very long night, full of strong emotions, which brought me to the brink of exhaustion at 7:30 AM today, August 15th.
Coco was exceptional. She gave birth beautifully, allowing me to help her with everything, from breaking the various amniotic sacs to cutting the umbilical cords, to latching all the puppies so they could feed on her milk.
Here they are, the 5 little miracles.
Update: Unfortunately, this afternoon, Coco miscarried 39 hours after her last birth. A black puppy, I don't know if it was male or female, but there was nothing that could be done.

Congratulations and sympathies for your losses. A few years ago, we had pugs—one boy and one girl. It was entirely accidental that they got pregnant; we were told she wouldn't allow him, but she did when no one was looking and fell pregnant. We tried everything to prevent it, even putting her in a baby grow vest and dog panties—lol—he got them off. Anyway, I helped deliver her puppies (five). We kept two because the boy had a rare colouring, and there was only one girl. We were also worried they might get hurt or bred, etc. Unfortunately, Mum developed mastitis, so we had to bottle-feed them every day and take care of Mum, making her as comfortable as possible. Fast forward - same thing happened to our girl pup, we were on holiday so my brothers looked after them, came home to find her pregnant - my brothers are dummies, they thought she was just eating well lol 😅 she was huge, poor thing. We did consider terminating since she was so young, but they were past the "mark date" when it could be done safely. Fortunately, we still had all the necessary equipment and medical supplies to deliver her six pups. Sadly, we lost one a few days later - he had a cleft palate, with the roof of his mouth missing, so he couldn't feed. We tried everything - bottle feeding, etc., but it just came out his nose. The vet said there was nothing more we could do, so he was gently put to sleep 😔. Delivering puppies is the most beautiful, humbling, and stressful experience I've ever had! It's incredible, but definitely not for the squeamish lol. I hope all goes smoothly for mom and pups for the rest of their journey. They're adorable! 💗
My mom used to breed maine coon cats and I grew up with all the ups and downs of having those little angels. It was always an emotional roller coaster for me when something went wrong, 'cause I was so excited about the kittens that made it, but at the same time extremly sad about the ones that didn't. Congratulations to you and Coco for 5 wonderful new puppies and my condolences for the three little ones that didn't make it.
they're beautiful <3 i'm so sorry for your losses, it seems so common but it's heartbreaking and i don't think it's possible to be prepared for it... really sorry to hear that. and yet, congratulations to the little family!
Congratulations 💖
I am so sorry she lost another one. How is she doing now? Are her and the 5 beauties settling in?
