i need to brush my teeth
It took an interdimensional demon to take down Windom Earle. He really was one step ahead at all times. But not when it came to unworldly forces. Eckhardt had the last laugh after all. Curiosity killed the cat. Really messed up about Pete and Audrey being there though. I guess that goes to show, don't hang around the wrong people. And Audrey was only there because she was pushed by her dad to take charge with this cause of theirs. Dr. Hayward was right after all, Ben's goodness is like a time bomb (go figure). And led to his daughter being caught in the crossfire. No way he could have known though. Crazy stuff. Surreal finale. Lynch doing what he does best. And now it's just pure greatness to come. The movie and season 3..perfection. Lynch and the actor who plays The Arm (small dude) had a falling out so he doesn't return for season 3. But whats weird is he said next time you see me it won't be me, and hes a tree in season 3. Almost feels like Lynch knew they'd have a falling out? Or just a coincidence. And the 25 years later thing... and my man actually waited 25 years. But it was all worth it in the end.
Hey James, just got caught up. It has been truly a pleasure, and I cannot wait for the continuation of this series (which, of course, includes the movie).
Excited for you to get into S3. You should check out this short clip of Angelo Badalamenti explaining how he came up with the theme to Twin Peaks. https://youtu.be/e-eqgr_gn4k?si=LmkV8DjXw_SOPtQF
When will fire walk with me be posted? I can’t wait, lol.
On his latest video on The Sopranos, he wrote that he is on vacation.
WRT the sycamore trees and the red curtains, you shoot it clean (no curtains) then bring the curtains in and make sure the lighting matches and then you shoot the curtains. In the edit you do a simple cross fade that gives the effect of the curtains appearing.
Well yes obviously but you have actors interacting with the curtains and the floor plate super cleanly. The match is pretty damn perfect and there's not any visible crossfade on the positions of the actors. That's what makes the effect magical and probably what made him ask how they did it.
Fly Lo has a track on one of his newer ep's called Garmonbozia, such a good song. Also cannot recommend the album Xiu Xiu Plays the Music of Twin Peaks enough if you're looking for more Twin Peaks inspired music!
It's worth repeating that this episode aired on ABC (basic cable) in June 1991... wtf?!? lol
yeah and the maddie murder episode was worse. I think there was a window of like 5-10 years when network tv was pushing the envelope around this time but then decided to pull back and not allow as much violence. there is a very violent tv movie with brook shields called stalking laura from 1993
I'll see you again in 25 years
One other thing... when this first aired, we were all under the belief that this would be the last Twin Peaks we would ever get. What a way to leave us hanging!!!
There's also a couple books written by Mark Frost, but it is debated how canonical they are. Reading the Secret Diary of Laura Palmer is insightful but disturbing.
lynch was pretty clear that the show and the books are different projects
How awesome that today is Twin Peaks Day. 🍒🍒🍒
Incredible stuff. Everything in the lodge lacks sufficient superlatives. Windom Earle's demise especially. I love the slow old banker wasting time when everyone wants to get back to Coop. And I love that Audrey isn't even actually blocking the vault. Poor Pete. :( If you're looking for bonus content, there's several canon books. Several of them have audiobooks read in character by the shows actors, so you could even react to those. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_Peaks_books The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, The Secret History of Twin Peaks, and The Final Dossier are recommended. If you want to read them, all of them should be read after Fire Walk with Me, except The Final Dossier, which should be read after Season 3/The Return. There is also a great video of the composer, Angelo Badalamenti talking about making Laura Palmer's theme with David Lynch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-eqgr_gn4k And an interesting short interview of Ray Wise and co about finding out he was the killer, and filming the reveal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYC9Y84ogc0
Regarding Fire Walk with Me, it is not a spoiler to tell you that it is a prequel to the TV show. The advertising campaign at the time stated right out that it took place before Laura Palmer's murder. This is actually one of the things that makes it great. It really humanizes Laura. Nevertheless, some fans at the time missed the memo and were upset with the movie because it didn't continue the TV show. Also, be prepared for one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time.
The Pink Room Theme is some of the coolest background music ever.
This skit they did on SNL between Twin Peaks seasons 1 and 2... when Kyle McLachlan hosted SNL. Worth a watch, especially with Chris Farley as Leo Johnson. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7o2ca
And Conan O'brien as Andy.
I love how Lynch concludes all the plotlines to the non black lodge stories. Nadine is made to realize what the writers did to her in season 2 and cries. Ben being Donna's dad? Doc Hayward Hulk smashes him! The awful Packard story and Audrey not really having anything to do for the back half of season 2? Old man comedy and a bomb! He knocks them out in 15 minutes of screen time, half of which is the old man comedy. That scene with Bobby and Shelley is almost a verbatim recreation of one of the first scenes of the pilot.
Realizing that The Return came out 25 years after season 2 gives Laura's "I'll see you again in 25 years" a whole new meaning
Condensed watch order mentioned above by Ben: Season 1 Season 2 Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) Twin Peaks: Missing Pieces Season 3
Happy Twin Peaks day!
Here we go!!!! How’s Annie? HOOOWWWW’S ANNIE!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oh, shit! It's happening!
Alright, here’s your viewing guide. I think the other folks in the comments will agree with me on this. Watch the movie Fire Walk With Me After the movie Fire Walk With Me, I’d highly recommend you watch “The Missing Pieces”. It is an extended collection of deleted scenes and alternate takes that while not necessarily “essential”, is highly enjoyable and well worth watching. And then after that, just hop on to season 3 and it’s smooth sailing.
Yes and please for the love of Lynch do not watch the fan edit of Fire Walk With Me it takes too many liberties not done by Lynch imo.
