Hello

Good reaction today. Now we need the romance with Moonstruck.

T

The Fisher King (1991). Romance + Drama = Redemption.

G
Gary Paterson · July 2, 2024

Going to keep voting for Moonstruck only, till it wins because you know... its good

L
Linda · July 2, 2024

Sid and Nancy and Crimes and Misdemeanors should be on this list.

L
Linda · July 2, 2024

The Green Mile is not a romance. It, along with Shawshank Redemption, has been rerunning, ad nauseam, on cable for decades. 😐😐😐

Throw “The Remains of the Day” (1993) for a future drama/romance choice. It stars Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson. Excellent film.

I apologize so much for how long this list is, but if you like any of the movies please comment/or if you don't! I tried to give as wide a range as I could. I put -/--- in between titles to try and shorten the list too. I'm sorry to those that gotta scroll, but please take a look and add if I missed any! A BATTLE: *** The Notebook & 500 Days of Summer - I’d love for you watch these 2 "super romantic" movies and see why people also view them as the least romantic/problematic problems. They do have fun shots, acting etc. Horror/Thriller: You’re Next ---X and Pearl--- Nope Cabin in the Woods—Death Becomes Her Ready or Not --- Creep and Creep 2 —— Watching Jaws you mentioned movie movies about sharks and territory! The Shallows- stuck in one area with Blake Lively trying to survive an angry shark. Deep Blue Sea— Under Paris (more as a joke before the Olympics) Drama/Family Drama/Character Driven What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?--- I Am Sam Winter’s Bone--- Jennifer Lawrence’s 1st Academy Award nom. *** Stepmom--- Anatomy Of A Fall Documentary on the biggest voice actors: I Know That Voice*** Sci-Fi, Coming of Age, Psychological Thriller in Action in one section: Sucker Punch (only the directors cut or a lot won’t make sender) Jennifer’s Body--- A Monster Calls Comedies: Poor Things- Emma Stone just won an Oscar and the story and the sets will make you gasp! *** Spinal Tap *** Kind of like What We Do In The Shadows, but with a band! Lilo and Stitch---- Chef---- 4 Weddings and a Funeral Clueless--- Mrs Doubtfire Love Stories: You’ve Got Mail- When Harry Met Sally Father of the Bride part 1 and 2. *** Ruby Sparks- such an interesting story. I’ve seen you watch similar and like them a lot. *** A League of Their Own *** Tom Hanks. Survival Movies: Buried- Ryan Reynolds buried underground the WHOLE movie. *** The Impossible (true story…you will love how they shot this) *** Those Movies Millenials (me) watched and were obsessed with: High Fidelity and Garden State Crime? All John Wicks--- Matchstick Men Boondocks Saints- Fight Club Children Movies That Are Amazing: Corpse Bride- Homeward Bound The Secret Garden- A Little Princess Coming of Age: Now and Then- Stand By Me- Matilda The Kings of Summer---Almost Famous My Girl--- Bridge To Teribithia- Booksmart Very Sad Movies: Life is Beautiful---Room I’d love to see your take on “horrible, cult classics” like Mommy Dearest and Showgirls. Comedy Movies/Standup That’s Basically A Movie (Mike Birbiglia) I know this is so different, but Mike Birbiglia stand up. They’re about the length of a movie. I even put out of a movie of his first one “Sleepwalk With Me”. They’re on Netflix and his comedy is different because It’s all story based. I’d love to hear how hard/easy it would be to take a comedy routine and turn it into a show where the audience is crying. *** TV Shows: Sci-Fi/Drama/Superhero/Family Dysfunction. The Umbrella Academy (4th and last is August) ***---Hannibal The Leftovers---Shameless Bates Motel- TrueBlood- THE WEST WING!!! Comedies/Satire Silicon Valley— Veep

The Green Mile is the no brainer this poll. Just hoping Moonstruck finally gets in the top two.

I want to put a long list of genres and movies, but I don't want other to scroll. Is there a messenger on here where I can list them out? I do want to say here PLEASE add "Return To Oz" to your list. It's the real sequel to The Wizard of Oz and it's so....weird/terrifying/strange. I don't think I've seen anyone react, but it's a childhood cult class and the visuals and story are wild.

To not watch The Insider is to deprive yourself.

C
Cody Price · July 2, 2024

Make sure to have tissues available when you watch Green Mile. This film will get to you emotionally.

Age of Innocence is great, so is Moonstruck. I enjoyed Past Lives, I saw it in the theater.

J
JL Green · July 1, 2024

I'm voting for the least favorite choice "Manhattan" which I enjoyed very much.

J
Jon Bradley · July 1, 2024

Insider and Age of Innocence ... the first is based on a true story while the second is glimpse into the Gilded Age and etiquette

B
Bert Taverner · July 1, 2024

Honestly wish you had Annie Hall instead of Manhattan, but that probably wouldn’t win either

L
Lewish · July 1, 2024

How'd Metropolis do?

P
Patrick Massonne · July 1, 2024

Category: Silent Films oof Euope and USSR. There are true classics. Noseferatu, Joan of Arc, Man with a Camera, Battleship Potemkin, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Last Laugh, Strike!, Napoleon, and Tons more that I can't pull up at this moment. You could try a couple and check response is.

I saw "The Green Mile", "Moonstruck" & "The Age of Innocence" in a movie theater. All three films touched my soul- in different ways & for different reasons- and put me in a specific, tangible time & place. "The Age of Innocence" also has a bravura performance from Miriam Margolyes which is not to be missed.

Insider is a great one. Michael Mann + Al Pacino? Winning combo right there.

I'm gonna say Green Mile is gonna take it. Lol. Good. 👍

J
Josh Hinrichs · July 1, 2024

You gotta put If Beale Street Could Talk on one of these polls! I know you’d love it! Voted for Past Lives haha

k
kbobravo · July 1, 2024

My favorite film of 2018. One of the best scores of this century. That should have gotten all the recognition Moonlight did. At least Regina King won her Oscar

J
James vs Cinema · July 1, 2024

May hop onto another genre! Reply to this and tell me what I should check out! Don't mind repeating previous ones too since we didn't get to all the films.

J
Janet Michelle- You Caught Me · July 1, 2024

Which genres are you in the mood for the most?
