Modding Diary - More Tweaking On The Abandoned Baby Update

Hi guys! Hope you all are doing well! ☺️☺️

I just have a short update today, I did alot of back end boring stuff the past two weeks.

One of the major issue I had to deal with was to remove the parents and family members from the relationship tab once a baby is abandoned.

I felt like it didnt make sense to for them to still show up because the baby is not supposed to know who their families are once they are adopted by another family. I was able to solve the issue and hide the family members unless they are reintroduced again later in life, and I also made it so that the biological families shouldn't randomly call the abandoned child to hangout, although that part still needs more testing. The other thing I also had to do was to hide all the family related interactions on the abandoned baby from their biological family unless their identity has been revealed. Again all this is working now but it is some pretty boring stuff. so lets move on to the fun part😩

I made it so that sims can abandon their baby in public like in a park or pretty much anywhere, not just at someone's door step, I feel like this would add to different types of storytelling

If a baby is found in public sims will have a different initial reaction and moodlet

And the pop up on decide baby fate is slightly different as well

The other more interesting thing was I added an interaction that allows the biological parents to reveal their identity to the abandoned child once they are older. To do so you just click on the child and select "Reveal Identity"

The child will have four different reactions depending on if they already know about their adoption, and how good their relationship is with you.

This is what they will say if they didnt know they were abandoned and adopted

And here is what they will say if they have a bad relationship with you 💀

And here is if they are casual acquaintance with you

And here is if the were very close with you

All four reactions has matching moodlets for both the parent and the child and all four would affect your relationship negatively

Once the child has some time to process the reveal they will decide whether to accept you or not. if they accept you you will be able to talk to them, talk about their abandonment and try to reconcile. But if they dont accept you you will have a hard time building a good relationship with them. But they might change their mind and forgive you later in life.
