Modding Diary - Funeral For The Baby 😶

Hi guys! hope you all are doing well!

this week I worked on adding funerals to the update.

Right now I am working with the funeral system that came with the Life& death pack and next week I will see if I can make it BGC.🤓

Please remember this is just a WIP, and I was mostly investigating some key features this week so the UI and the objects will likely change in the following weeks.

so like a regular funeral you can plan a funeral for the baby you lost from the start an event page

you can select the host and guests, but you wont be selecting the baby as the deceased sim on this page

you can then select the activity, I will probably make more activities and make them more appropriate for the occasion

you can then select a location and you will be teleported to the location once you start the event

and just like a regular funeral you will need to buy a memorial table and place a special baby memorial photo on the table

you can click on the table to dedicate the memorial to your baby that passed

the picture and the tooltip display will automatically be updated

The memorial photo includes two frame options and two image styles. you can change the look of it by using the design tool if you want.

annnd that's all i have for this week

i spent most of the week struggling once again with the fact that babies are not actual sims. normally when you dedicate the memorabilia photo from life & death to a sim it automatically updates to their portrait but with babies it just gives me a blank photo. 😔so I actually had to do a workaround and just turn the photos into swatches in my version. but i think it worked out in the end.

Next week I will see if I can make the funeral event BGC which is gonna be super fun/s🙄

there wont be a modding diary next week as I will be away for a few days attending my cousins graduation! 🎓 but hopefully I will have some good news for you the following week!

Also i found out for the first time today that this is what sims look like when they are moon bathing 😭I was trying to figure out my portrait issue and suddenly I see her right next to me and she was literally not even breathing. I had to use the ShowSimInfo tool to see what interaction she was running to understand she was supposed to be moon bathing 😭i guess the stiffness of the animation really caught me off guard
