Modding Diary - Premature C-Section Adjustments

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS NOT A DOWNLOAD PAGE

Hi guys! Hope you all are well!

This week I worked primarily on editing the premature C-Section Animation.馃槝

So when your sim gives birth prematurely the doctor will not place the baby on your sim's chest for skin to skin contact, becauset the baby is too fragile.

The beginning of the animation looks the same

But when the baby is born instead of handing them to your sim the doctor sort of toss the baby into the air and the baby disappears and spawns into the incubator automatically. I did this hoping that it would make the first skin to skin contact with the baby in the incubator more meaningful and special. and yes I edited all three C-Section animations (single baby, twins and triplets)

the birthing sim will get one of 6 moodlets after(3 happy and 3 sad)

and the pregnancy partner/significant other will get one of 4 moodlets(2 happy 2 sad)

additionally I cleaned up the pregnancy complication system. before sims would only go into premature labor in the second trimester, but now it might also happen during the third trimester.

However the chances of premature birth is somewhat low (im bad at math but your sim has a 16% chance of getting either PPROM or placental rupture, and 30% of actually going into premature labor in the second or third trimester, not sure what that leaves us in the in the final percentage of a sim giving birth prematurely) . I kept the chances low because I dont want to release this feature and immediately have it take over your game, I think it should be something that's somewhat uncommon.

With that being said you can always trigger the pregnancy complications manually to take control of what happens to your sim.馃槉

In the child birth settings you will now see a subcategory called "Pregnancy Complications"

In there you can disable pregnancy complications, which will make your sim immune to PPROM and placental rupture. Use this if you don't want to deal with complications or premature birth.

During the first trimester you can give your sim PPROM or placental Rupture. however this does not grantee they will give birth prematurely, since the symptom might go away on its own.

but in the second and third trimester you will be able to manually trigger premature birth if you wish. doing so will send your sim into premature labor and your sim will be asked to go to the hospital right away.

Annnnnd that is all I have for this week.

Next week I am working on the family/friends visit, which is also the last thing I have planned for this update. I still want to make some kind of custom animation, maybe one that allows other sims to say hi/look at the baby in the incubator. I really hope the tuning doesn't give me too much trouble so that I will have time for the custom animation. 馃檹馃檹hopefully I will have some good news for you all next friday.

This update is still set to be release before the end of this month!

Once again thank you all so much for your support and your patience! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

If a Sim has multiples, is it possible for only one baby/not all babies to have complications? For example, one baby can go home but the other has to stay longer? I am soo soo excited for this update! I really look forward to your WIP posts 馃ス馃ス

Your mod is amazing. I wondered if you seen Alien Nation back in the 1990's. The men had the babies in the series lol any way. I like how real the incisions look you definitely do your research in this area. I can't wait for the release. I've been using your mods on my pregnant sims, and it's a real game changer. I wish they had this in Sims 3 lol. Good job.

Thank you for fixing the animation for all C-section births 馃槉... you know that's at the top of my wish list for the home births 馃檭 I love the attention to detail you put into everything, Realistic Birth has been a dream come true for me from the day I stumbled across it (before you were even finished with the inital Pateron release 馃槃) and it just keeps getting better 馃グ

Pandasama your attention to detail and the amount of effort you鈥檝e put into this mod for us to have realistic gameplay it鈥檚 just so beyond impressive. I鈥檓 just speechless. Thank you once again. This update is going to set the precipice that a lot more can be achieved in this game. If you can do it i鈥檓 sure a millionaire company certainly can too.

Hey Panda. :) At first I had to smile because the pregnant woman is standing next to her and the man is having the cesarean section, but of course complications can also arise with Alien pregnancies. :) Immediately afterwards, the next picture somehow broke my heart. This tiny, helpless baby... :`( As always, the moodlets turned out great and also heartbreaking. I can already see it coming. I'll probably cry during my Sims' first emergency c-section. *rolls eyes* *laughs* Would it be possible somehow to hold the baby up for at least a few seconds so that the birthing parent could at least see the baby before it disappears? In reality they do too. :) Just hold it up briefly, just a second or two, before taking it away. Or, as Ashley mentioned, an increased risk of premature labor or placental abruption in multiples. Especially when the babies share an amniotic sac or the placenta. Maybe the risk could then be increased to 50 percent? Or 45 if 50 is too high? 16 or 30 percent in a normal pregnancy is also enough. Because it's something unusual when that suddenly happens... unless Simmin's name is Millie. Then it can happen that she suddenly has 3 miscarriages in a row, even though I have set the risk to low with the Littlemssam mod! I will then throw out the mod along with your mod. Not that the two don't get along. Again, incredibly great work. I mean, the fact that I feel so emotionally sorry for pixel characters even though they're just pictures is a huge compliment to you. :) Thank you very much for your great, loving work. Kind regards, Mirja

Hi, First of all I want to say I love your mods. Thank you for your work :) <3 I like playing Sims in a Victorian era. Many players also love medieval stuff. It would be so great if there were more variations of the furniture. Or just recolors would be cool. Is it possible to do something like this in the future? That would be a dream <3

I love this so muuuuch! 馃槏 Cannot wait for this next update. You never fail to blow me away, Panda! 馃ス I do have a suggestion for the premature labor feature! I can鈥檛 remember if this has already been implemented or suggested, but maybe there could also be a version of premature birth where a sim who is pregnant with multiples may have an extra chance to go into premature labor as that鈥檚 pretty common in our world!

A
AprilSmiles 路 August 10, 2024

I have twins so I automatically was high risk too go into premature labor so this suggestion is so real too me I love it.

This looks awesome! I noticed that you included twin and triplet animation which is such a huge bonus! That said, do you plan on eventually adding twins and triplets to the water birth, bed birth, and alone birth?

As always it is incredible!!!! I also agree with you on having the premature births and complications a low percentage in game. Just like you said they are uncommon. But as always you are doing incredible and your attention to detail is amazing!!! Truly one of the greatest mods for the sims鈾ワ笍
