ItsMovieTime v4.3.0 is up!
Want to give your Sims some more stuff to do? Let them watch something new on a computer or the big screen. Each movie is its own download, so you can build up as big or as small a library as you like.
For a better experience, click on the Sim watching the movie and press Shift+Tab to enter first-person mode. This will allow you to watch the movies through your sim's eyes.
There is a DVD player too, if you'd rather have one standing next to the TV.
Installation
Download the zip file below and extract its content into your Sims 4 mods directory (typically C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods).
Updating
Same as installing, but when asked to overwrite existing files, press Yes.
PS: Zipped files come with a structured folder and sub-folders, to make installation easier and to avoid creating duplicates. If you copy TanksMods from the zip file and paste it in your Sims 4 Mods directory, it will automatically create the main directory (TanksMods) and copy the necessary files or overwrite the existing ItsMovieTime mod for you (when updating)

Changes
"Watch a Movie with" now asks which movie first, then who to watch it with. It used to ask for the Sim first. Picking the movie up front means the guest list can be filtered to suit it, so adult movies no longer offer children as someone to invite.
Fixed: the TV stayed on after everyone stopped watching. If you cancelled the Sims one by one, the last one to stop would leave the TV running. Now the last Sim picks up the remote and turns it off, the same way they do when they start a movie.
Fixed: the DVD Player never told you it was too far from a TV. The "place it closer to an unpaired television" tooltip could not appear at all; it works now.
Fixed: "Talk about the Scene" was blank in the pie menu when the target was an NPC. It now reads the same as it does for a played Sim.
Fixed: joining a romance movie lost its romance-specific interaction. Only the Sim who started the movie was offered it; anyone joining was not.
Fixed: adult movies on a computer played the TV animations. The computer had its own purpose-built animation set that was never reachable; it is now used, including the "caught" reaction.
Fixed: Sims reacted wrongly to romance and thriller movies. Romance movies were mostly getting laughs, and thrillers had no suspense or jump scares at all. Both now react in keeping with the genre.
Fixed: the DVD Player injector would set the TV objects to Linked by default, now the default is Unlinked, and the TV now switches to Linked only when there is DVD Player next to it.
Fixed: the DVD Player's "broken", "burnt" and "too far from a TV" messages were blank.
Action movies can now leave your Sim rattled, furious, or just happily parked on the sofa. Watching an action movie only ever produced four moods; three more were written but never reachable. Hot-headed, evil, mean and insane Sims now come away Craving Chaos, gloomy, lonely, clumsy and paranoid ones end up On Edge, and — the bigger fix — a Sim whose traits matched none of the list used to get no moodlet at all. Now they get one.
Fixed: two action-movie moodlets shared a name with two others. "Craving Chaos" was appearing on the confident moodlet and "Overanalyzing the Action" on the stressed one.
Adult movies now get reactions too. Every other genre had a reaction timeline; adult was the one that did not, so Sims watched it with a blank face from start to finish — and, because reactions are part of how a Sim decides whether it enjoyed a film, adult movies could never earn the better verdict moodlets. They now have their own timeline, and two Sims cuddling through one react to each other.
Fixed: adult movies were not hidden from infants and toddlers. The age checks only recognized children, so younger Sims slipped past every one of them. All three now cover everyone below teen.
Fixed: "Play a Random Movie" could pick an adult movie for a child. Every other way of choosing a movie already filtered by age; the random one did not.
Fixed: four movie genres gave the enjoyment bonus to the wrong fans. If your Sim's favourite genre was Classic, Crime, Musical or Thriller they never got the extra enjoyment from watching one, while Adventure, Comedy, Mystery and Sci-Fi fans were getting it twice over.
The picker now shows how long each movie actually is. It now reads the real length out of the video itself instead of me typing it manually for each new movie.
Sims keep reacting all the way through a long movie. The reactions were written against a roughly two-minute film, so anything longer played out in silence once the last one had gone by. They now carry on to the end of whatever you are watching.

im testing on my side with BE, even checked the .package file manually, i get no report from BE. When does this happen? or is it random? the line that says "it has bad tuning" would be helpful, if you could paste it here.

Sure. When you download the mods, each zip contains a TanksMods folder inside it, just copy that into your Sims 4 mods folder, that installs the mods. For ItsMovieTime, make sure that you download and install TanksMods Mod Central v1.2.1+ too (its in the requirements section in this post). The movies, being package mods (not scripted) can go in the same folder TanksMods if you want to keep everything in one folder, or you can organize in different folders, just make sure that non-scripted files can go up to 5 folders deep in your sims 4 mods folder, while scripted files no deeper than 1 folder. Also enable scripted mods in Sims 4 Options menu. Thats pretty much it.
Hey, I keep getting a BE with this mod. I uninstalled and reinstalled and as soon as my game loads in the BE come up for this.
Not sure if you did that, but you need to install the TanksMods Mod Central v1.2.1+ (its in the requirements section in this post)
DVD PLAYER NO PLAY AND MOVIES DO NOT SHOW UP IN THE GAME ?
dvd player works, and the movies show up in game, i just retested it just to be sure. im not sure why they dont show up in your game, but just make sure you have the requirement TanksMods Mod Central v1.2.1+ installed too, and package files no deeper than 5 folders in your sims 4 mods folder, and also script files no deeper than 1 folder.
Since the latest update the stay over Sims picker is broken with this mod installed.
Thanks for the feedback Mike, its actually ItsMusicTime that has a problem with the multipicker as it overrides the original one. ill see into it.

Hi, i doubt its this mod. It has been around for years now and i havent had any reports about preventing a household from loading. Also, it has nothing to do with sims but rather in game objects (tvs). anyway, make sure you also have the latest version of TanksMods Mod Central

Hi, install TanksMods Mod Central v1.2.0 too. Also, make sure scripted mods optiom is enabled in game and script files are no deeper than 1 subfolder in your Sims 4 Mods folder.
Hi! So for the longest the movie time mod has not worked for. It doesn't pop up when I click on the TV and it doesn't show in ModCentral. How can I fix this?
Just check that is installed properly and that you have the latest game update.

For some reason some of the movies are not showing on the list. The notice says I have 76 movies installed but only a few of them show under "all" when I click to watch a movie.
Some of the movies are marked as premiere movies, which means they will be by default hidden and show up during the respective "Watch Premiere" event. Check with the calendar. The option can be disabled in the ItsMovieTime Settings

Except for Sims4Tycoon, the rest is compatible with yesterday's patch.
so are the disney movies NOT IN HD? I only see the adult ones in HD. Am I doing it wrong?
yes they are but they are in the SFW tier. You might switch to that tier or upgrade to get the content from both tiers.

Hi Danada. I cant see on my phone which tier you picked, but please note that sfw and nsfw tiers are separate tiers, and im guessing you chose one of the two, which are mid tiers. In order to have the content from both tiers, consider switching to full membership tier.
does anyone know if the movies from https://simfileshare.net/folder/234074/ by Astercholik for this mod still work with version 4.1.0? it says on the folder name (only to 4.0.x up) but I don't know if since it has that up qualifier in there, and since even with the official its movie time movies they appear to say they're updated for 4.0.1+ and later. oh and does its movie time 4.1.0 work with the newest update to the sims 4? sorry for the questions, I'm getting back into the sims 4 after not playing since mid 2023, and need to redo all my mods so they're up to date.
They should work with ItsMovieTime v4.1.0 (which is compatible with the latest game update)

Apologies for the late reply! I keep updating the same posts over and over, so in the case of combined movie collections, download the last part of the of the zipped files as that contains the latests released movies. I hope this helps?

Need more information. Version of ItsMovieTIme, version of TanksMods Mod Central, version of your game, etc. Check also tanksmods.log file in your Sims 4 folder for any warning/errors, and let me know.
Hello. But Your modded movies are not showing up in game yes I get the green notification that I had installed it right, however I am getting errors to your script your movie's script is an error to them. None of the movies will show up. Can you please help this issue immediately I have downloaded all of your movies, again your green notification shows up that I have done it right it will not show any movies in game?
Did you install TanksMods Mod Central (link in the Requirements in the above post)? That needs to be installed too in order for ItsMovieTime to work. So, its ItsMovieTime, TanksMods Mod Central and a few movies. Thats all. Also, make sure that files ending with .ts4script can not go deeper than 1 folder in your Sims 4 Mods folder, while .package files can go up to 5 folders. If everything is set, you should be able to see a tanksmods.log file in your Sims 4 folder, open it and see if there is any warning/error inside (it will tell you whats missing).

Missing function on computers and most tvs when SashaT1804's custom channel injector is installed :(
Yes, custom channel injector code breaks other injectors and needs updating, but the modder doesnt seem to be active anymore. I wrote to her like a year ago about the issue. Anyway, i have found a way around it, and it should be available in the next update.

i downloaded the recent update, but there's no option to watch it movie time movies on tv, nor does it show any of the movies I downloaded as well and placed in mods folder, ( i downloaded all of them)
If everything is installed correctly, you should see a TanksMods.log file in your sims 4 folder. Open it and see if there is any warning, and let me know.

Purchasing movies is not necessary, as they will appear in the movie list straight away once installed. But please note that some of the movies are marked as premiere movies, and they are "hidden" by default (if you have CustomHolidays mod installed too with the Movie Premiere feature ON) and will create a "Watch Premiere Movie" event in the calendar once installed. And only after the respective event is over, will the movie be visible in the movie list with the rest of the other movies.

Hey Tank!! Do you know of any reason why I wouldn't be able to go into CAS, when the itsmovietime nod is in? I kept running into an issue where all of sudden I was unable to go into CAS, it would just give the forever loading screen, and when I removed all my mods to find the culprit, it was this one that was causing the issue.

Hi Tank, I installed the newest updated for Its Movie Time, but when I am entering the CAS to modify my Sims I cannot get into it and Better Exceptions is showing a window: Better Exceptions: UI Exception v3.13 | Created by TwistedMexi A UI Exception occurred while you didn't have a household loaded. I did 50/50 method and finally I found that when I removed your mod I was able to go into CAS again. Can you help, please?
Hey bud, you need to install Zerbu's Custom Preferences (the last one) as its a requirement now for custom preferences like Movie Genre. This due to the changes EA made, so Zerbus mod is more like a global mod for custom preferences. You will find the link to Zerbu in the IMT description page.

Hi Tank! I love this mod so much, thank you for all you do. Since the new Lovestruck release and the lastest update I'm having problems with this mod. I played the game with no CC's in the MOD folder just this mod and the CAS isn't loading properly when I go to edit a family. I also get UIException errors. I think it has something to do with the CAS selection which has been removed, you can't select favourite movies anymore.

Hi there and thanks for the feedback :). You need to redownload the movies too, they have been updated for the latest game patch. I have a early flight in the morning, so cant help right now, but you can updatd the LE on the discord server and i will give it a look as soon as i can.
Love the mod. Is it possible to have a random function? I'd like to tell my sim to just watch a random movie without having to scroll through all the titles and trying to pick one at random.
Yeah, that would be possible. Its actually already implemented, but its more like an autonomy thing, not as an interaction. I'll see to it. Thanks for the feedback

Thank you I was able to see it. I’ve noticed that I’m not able to use the mod. Every time I try to go watch a movie nothing shows up. Did I install it wrong? It started working on its own at the theater but not at the houses.
How do you own the cinema as a business? I do not see any instructions
There is a new Cinema menu in your sims phone, you start from there. You will also need either zerbu's venue changes mod or the customized basemental venue list attached to the mod page. It works as any another business, except its managed through the phone (unless you have EP01 as well, it would then be possible to manage it from business panel too, once you have bought the business).

Hello! Can you explain please how does The Sims Film Festival work? Whether I have to do something to activate it or no? Because now i can’t see any information in my calendar, there are only Movie Premier holidays. I've put all the objects to watch movies in Magnolia Blossom (screen and chairs) and I also tried to find some objects of the festival, but I've found only the statue and there is no shop. So, how does it work? Or is it possible that i can't see it because of some mod conflict?
Hi. The festival is fully automatic, so no need to do anything on your side to activate it. All the required objects will spawn automatically once you go to the festival. Try to keep an eye during Mondays at 3 AM, because thats usually the time when it gets marked on your calendar. There is also a notification that pops up when the festival is up.

Hi! Can you confirm that you have at least one movie installed? Because during once the lot loads up, the mod tries to locate any installed movie and play it on the lot TVs. Im guessing that might be the case. Also, if possible, please upload the Exception file on discord, so i can have a deeper look at it.

hey! do the sims watch the FULL movie? it always starts in the beginning but my sim never watches too much of it before shutting it off because of their needs.... also, do they have to watch the full movie before finding out if they like that movie genre? Thank you! <3
Hey Stephanie! There are some criteria for the Sim to watch the full movie, and most of the time, they dont watch a full movie (stressed, motives near failure, feeling miserable or bored, etc). You can use the Turn On function, to play a movie and then have the Sim watch it. This way, if the Sim does stop watching it, the TV will stay on. Also, there is a 10% chance that they will like or dislike a movie genre after watching it. I tried to stick to the original game-play.
