DIRECTOR'S CUT: Therapist Reacts to THE MITCHELLS VS. THE MACHINES

How do you deal with family members who just don't understand you? How can you build bridges and healthy relationships when you feel like you have nothing in common?

Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker and filmmaker Alan Seawright talk about the absolutely spectacular weirdness of the Mitchell family in The Mitchells vs the Machines. This movie is insightful, funny, and teaches us a lot about family relationships, growing up, accepting each other's uniqueness, and how to defeat the robot uprising. It is a truly amazing screenplay. A lot of us can relate to the family relationships in this movie... especially Alan (and probably a lot of other people who work in the film industry and relate to Katie Mitchell.)

1. I love that the Instagram family is the Poseys, hinting that they're "posing" as a perfect family; 2. Linda and Aaron must have either had those cue cards pre-written, or scribbled them quickly in the moment, either of which is hilarious; 3. I can't believe your kids haven't been on the show! (That I'm aware of, maybe there's stuff on Patreon from before I joined, but I haven't seen them in any episodes yet) and 4. Now I really, really want to see you guys react to Ron's Gone Wrong

YES! Would LOVE to hear the thoughts of your or just kids in general! I could see a Kids Reacts series being particularly fun! :D Especially with the kinds of movies coming out these days for kids like Big Hero Six and Red. Would love to see a few kid reactions with John and Alan's commentary! We didn't have deep movies/shows growing up for sure. We got The LIttle Mermaid and Boy Meets World Lol.

Honestly while it almost certainly wasn't intentional, all I can see in this film is a family of four autistic/neurodiverse people who experience it in different ways, and gosh it's a cool thing to see.
