Aw man I’ve missed this homey vibe of the channel ❤️ still love the new stuff
Jono's voice has dropped a full octave since this was made, baby voiced Jono shocked me at first.
This just makes me excited for the future PHM episode 😍
Love this archive pick! 🎬 The Martian is psychological gold — Watney can't change Mars, but he chooses every next decision, which is pure Frankl-style logotherapy. 🧠 He narrates his survival like directing his story in real time, showing how meaning-making itself becomes a lifeline in isolation. Visually, those vast landscapes against his warmth act as cinema therapy — hope painted across despair. And risking everything for one person? That's intrinsic worth challenging utilitarian logic. Cinema therapy at its finest! Thanks for dusting this gem off. 🥔🎥
For anyone who is unaware, Project Hail Mary won the last Patreon episode pick!
It's not just you, but a lot of people seem to overlook the moral at the end is meant specifically for astronaut candidates. Like sure if you have cancer there may be a point where the best you can do is prepare to die in peace and dignity, but if you have an emergency on a spaceship the attitude to keep solving problems and keep trying everything, is always going to be helpful up to the moment you die. Any point where you have to honestly admit "okay this problem is insurmountable, I guess I'll die" is when you'll only have seconds to live at most anyway. There's a time and a place for giving up and for being able to live with failure, but that place is mostly on Earth.
Another thrilling chapter in the Rescuing Matt DamonVerse! 🪐🌌
Hoping we get a companion piece soon on Project Hail Mary.
Excite! Excite!
The Martian is one of my favorite movies/books. Love this!
