Therapy Deep Dive: Taking a Stand Without Being a D*ck
Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker dives into a topic we can all relate to: standing up for yourself. How do you do that without being a d*ck? (Psst not a duck.) Jonathan explains both how to stand up for yourself when you struggle to and how to do so respectfully.

It takes a lot to get me there I’ll be honest .. I’m very unpredictable but I’m also an avoider as well …. I might be on the less tolerant spectrum due to the dark situation I’m presently in so I come off as a dick and I’ll be honest ( don’t care who I offend ) but that might be due to the constant misunderstanding and the mistreatment due to others projecting there behaviour towards me which was not warranted as the behaviour was not about me but taking out on me , I don’t mean to be a dick but I guess I am anyway this vid was awesome Jono gives me a better understanding 😅😖
Loved this Jono 😇 this was helpful and I really needed it ! ☺️🫶🏼
Also: "I understand that people who benefitted from my deference may DECIDE that I was unfair by setting reasonable boundaries. I release the belief that I am responsible for their feelings. I release the belief that they get to write a false version of my story and present it as fact without pushback." Boundaries are an ongoing practice; you don't build a fence and then let it disintegrate. ✌️
Even though I fully understand the concept of "here is this situation. You are doing this because of xyz, but it hurts me. I still like you to do that, but I have to take then my steps". How to avoid to get into the mindset of emotional blackmailing the other one?
Jono: Excellent advice! Emily: Fan-freaking-tastic clip choices!
Cackled before I even hit play 😂😂😂.
