So glad I watched this in a parking lot in full view! I am letting my emotions happen (with Some restraint) so I'm sure I look entertaining lmao
Awesome choices. The only one I’d change is the action scene. Oddly enough, still Spielberg, but for the opposite reasons. The D-Day invasion in Saving Private Ryan is chaotic. There’s no great swelling music. Just noise. Chaos. Sound that cuts out. Cameras shaking. People screaming for their mothers. Vomiting. Limbs being dragged around. It unrelenting. There’s no time to breathe. You’re just dropped in immediately and expected to survive it all. It’s almost too realistic to the point you want to look away, but you can’t.
I would argue that’s not an action scene, it’s a horror scene. But yeah, still stands as one of the all-timers!
One of my picks for a perfect scene is the confrontation in the Asgardian vaults between Loki and Odin in Kenneth Branagh's Thor. It is definitely an Oscar level performance in my opinion!
Perfect ecstacy: Sinners music scene. The performance by Miles as Sammie, the score, (more *spoiler* below). I haven't thought of my other perfect scenes, but Sinners unsurprisingly comes to mind. Spoiler: the visualization of current day people connecting with their ancestors through music makes me so emotional and is a concept I connect with.
This dropping while I'm actively watching All That Jazz is perfect timing 👏. In my opinion, the opening scene of the Broadway casting is a perfect scene. The anticipation of the dancers, the music, the cuts to the uncaring showrunners, etc. All just so great.
Nice!
