Cinema Therapy Turns 5 + A Shiny New Intro! 🥳
It’s hard to believe, but Cinema Therapy turns 5 years old today. Our little baby is off to YouTube Kindergarten! We began by talking about radical acceptance and our beloved Frodo. Since then, the channel has gone places we never dreamed of: conventions and meetups, dream guests, and launching a movie studio with our viewers just to name a few.
And we’ve had such an amazing time making this show, talking about movies, and sharing feelings with you all, that we wanted to give you a little peek behind the scenes of our new, original score, composed and conducted by Caleb Blood, a name that we’re confident will be VERY famous in another few years. Seriously, his music is unbelievable!
Jonathan wasn’t able to join us for the recording session, but he was very involved in the composition phase, and he responded (almost) as emotionally as Alan did to the music once it was recorded by the wonderful musicians we got to work with. We hope you enjoy seeing (and hearing) this music as much as we enjoyed the process of making it. Here’s to five more years of Movie Feelings! (Close runner up for the title of our show. Not really. We’re much cleverer than that.)

Wow, I have a session in 20 minutes and I'm teary-eyed :). I'm so happy for you and I'm so happy that I found Cinema Therapy. I know I'm a better therapist because of this show and I also know I have a blast watching the show. Thank you all for everything you do!
Love you guys together. Wish I had a friendship like hat in my life :)
Chills, tears, elation - just a few of the myriad of emotions welling up. You guys so deserve this. ♥️🤗🎉
Between the phenomenal music and the wonderful video editing, this had me tear up more than a few times. Well done, here's to another 5 years!
The moment I sat down & watched one your YouTube episodes with my teenager, I was hooked by Alan & Jono! Y'all are truly one of the worthy ones here. There are really only about 5 channels on YouTube that (to me) aren't utter nonsense.........Congrats! You made my list! :) Thank you for being YOU.
I can even actually obsessed hands down yall are my favorite white people
Great freaking ep!!!
We have our own How to Train Your Dragon-level theme now!? And I've been crying with y'all for FIVE YEARS?! What an incredible way to mark this milestone! It is a privilege to support a team that works tirelessly to teach empathy, understanding and community in a post-pandemic world. Seriously, y'all rock. I'm looking forward to the years to come. 🩷
Hopping BACK in because I have this clip on loop so I can cry it out... Caleb's piece is stunning, but I need to say: whoever edited this video needs the biggest raise, and an award, and a pony. PHENOMENAL WORK.
Oh my goodness! As a composer AND a violinist my heart just soared throughout this entire new intro piece. I LOVE IT
WOW!!! so powerful
Omg this gave me chills! I love the song!!!!
Not sure how long I've been watching of the 5 years, but I've loved all of my time watching my youtube dads. I've got youtube dads in you guys and youtube brothers in the super carlin brothers. haha. :) <3
Love you guys! Here is to 5 more years!!!

There’s no way it’s been five years and I’ve been subscribed for three🥹🥹🥹🥹 it will be weird getting adjusted to the change in the intro music but the new inter music is so fantastic. I love the clips of you guys dancing around with the new intro music in the background.😂😂😂 I had so much fun meeting you guys at Emerald city comic con last year, love you internet dads!!

This is the best movie review show ever!
You are both fantastic. Congratulations on 5 years.
Caleb Blood and Cinema Therapy killed it (and yeah, I cried watching this 🤣)! ✨✨Happy 5 year anniversary! 🎉 You guys and your crew brought me so many great moments of reflection, laughter and growth with all the work you do. Keep doing what you’re all doing and I can’t wait to see what more is in store. ✨🙌
I love the current intro music and I was sad to see this on my feed, BUT this turned out to be wonderful. Bravo!
What's interesting is that the current into music was actually stock music that Alan found! He said it took him forever to find the right one lol. It's wonderful for the show, for sure. Caleb knocked this right out of the damn park, though ❤️.
OMG!! That was awesome!! And yes! Yes I am ugly crying right now. You two are my spirit animals. ♥ I love you guys!! Don't ever stop!!
Oh great, now I'm ugly crying over INTRO MUSIC. Thanks guys. No seriously though, thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for these last five years of insights, laughs, tears, connection, and community. I'm a better person for having been a subscriber for the last three-ish years now, and I'm so glad I'm in a place recently where I can contribute financially to help you do even more. You're incredible people—everyone on the crew—and I'm so excited to see what's next for this community. I love you Internet Dads
Caleb Blood is the GOAT. Seriously. He's going to have a phenomenal career. And I'm glad we could help. We're so excited to keep going on this journey with you!
HOW DID I MISS THIS NOTIFICATION!? I'm SOBBING
This is fantastic! The music was phenomenal and I can't believe it has been 5 years! All I can say is thank you for building a space to connect and heal through cinema. I can't wait to see where the next 5 years will take all of us! Congratulations Alan and Jono!
THAT WAS AMAZING!!! Congrats to the composer. Happy 5th anniversary to both of you and everyone connected to Cinema Therapy. Here,s to 5 more!!! 🥰😍❤️
I was literally crying. The score is phenomenal! Thank you for providing such a safe and creative space. <3
This is so exciting! Not just for us the fans but for you guys and the crew. My partner was the one who introduced me to you guys, probably two or three years ago. To this day, we still sit down together and watch you guys, fanning over the films you watch and the advice given from your videos to better ourselves and our relationship. So much love to everyone involved! 💗
Tearing up over here! So so beautiful! I'm so grateful for you both and this show! You've helped and inspired me in ways you'll never know. I've loved being along for the ride. Keep being awesome Internet Dads!❤️🫶❤️🫶❤️
We will continue to attempt awesomeness. And fail. Hilariously (i hope.)
Breathless, wiping tears, and about to watch again. You guyyyyyyyys. 😍 I love this, and I feel so lucky to have found this channel. Thank you for everything you do... seriously. All of it.
Happy 5th anniversary!! I love the new intro😭😭 #cryingwithalan
This was amazing. Happy fifth anniversary!
It's almost 5am and I should have gone to bed already, but I'm gonna sit here in my feelings for a bit. I am absolutely beaming, with tears running down my cheeks. You guys are the reason I am almost 3 years strong in therapy, and regular therapy has helped me so much. So, with all due respect to my therapist (and I give her LOTS of kudos don't worry), let me say the quiet part out loud: Cinema Therapy is why I am the best version of myself. Because of you just being all inspirational and REAL, I was able to finally start a journey that saw me filling out my outlines like I was meant to. And you remind me to keep going and growing. Thank you so much. <3
Aww, now we're crying! 😭 Thank you, and thank you for being here with us! ❤️
Wow, this gave me so much goosebumps and made me cry with you. The score is fantastic, the whole team is incredible and the clips chosen for this video are amazing, emotional, funny, and show so much passion. I love, love, love the show, the topics and everything you are doing. I am happy to follow you another 5 to 50 years.
Now I'm sitting here - crying with Alan 😭❤️ So beautiful!
Congratulations! I am grateful you’ve been there because your videos have seen me through a lot of darkness and heartache (depression, loss, divorce, suicidal ideations…). Thank you for being our internet dads!
And thank you for being here for us! We literally could not do this without you. Sorry for the darkness you've gone through, but as Jono often says, that darkness will enable you to bring light to others someday. Hang in there, we're here with you. 🫂
Epic!! What a great score!! Loved seeing the swath of french horns. It’s an instrument I play and I just love what they can add for range and tone
Holy music intro! That was such a beautiful piece the people on my bus are concerned about my emotional well-being now 😅
Just play the music for them. Not a one of them will be mad you did!
Congrats! I’m so proud of you guys! I’ve been lurking here since the Tangled gaslighting episode. Will continue to lurk as you accomplish great things in the future.
I really loved this. I'm honestly so proud of you guys. Your work always inspires me and I appreciate what you do so much more than words could ever convey. Thank you for existing! ❤️
Did I need to cry watching this? No. Did I? Maybe.
OMG LOOOOVE!!!!!!
Amazing! Absolutely amazing! There’s so much love in that composition. 🩷❤️🧡🧡💛💛
I'm not lying when I say it's in my top 10 pieces of music written for film, and it's not even for a movie. It's an ode to the miracle of cinema. Caleb's a genius.
I'm not one to comment on anything, but this is amazing. The work you guys do, Jonathan and Alan (as well as every single person behind the scenes) is great. It has touch so many people and spoke to me in a way that I started thinking more of the person I am and want to be. Admit to myself that I am good enough and not be afraid to show others when I mess up. So thank you all
Congratulations! 🥳🎉🥂 Thank you so much for doing what you do! Have helped me TONs and so many others too! 😊🙏🔥
This was so beautiful, I can't wait to see the new intro in action.
Holy shit. Just finally got to actually watch this. I am not joking when I say that this is the only YouTube channel that I've ever followed so closely for this long. This month is your fifth anniversary, and my first. It's a damn honor to be able to share this anniversary with a channel and group of people who I fully believe have the ability to make a real difference in this world. I have absolutely zero regrets, only beautiful memories. So long as you guys are around, I will continue to support in any way possible. You guys are all wonderful, flaws and all.
🥹😭🎶🥰💗
I really love your podcast. So happy I have nearly 5 years worth to binge watch! Thanks especially for the Firefly episodes.
A huge congratulations to all involved!
Alan and Jono, you guys have helped me so much. Cinema Therapy has gotten me through very tough periods of depression. Because of your work I was encouraged to finally seek a therapist, and I’m so happy I’ve done so. Thank you guys, keep up the good work.
WHAT A FANTASTIC SCORE, HOLY CRAP! It's so powerful. This whole video made me emotional, I was near crying by the end of it 😭 I watched my first video in July 2021 and it's been a hell of a ride. Traveling for cons, CT Live and making friends along the way? Not bad if you ask me. Happy anniversary to everyone on the team 🎉
bryt, you're the O.G. Did you come to FanX in 2021? Or was your first 2022?
"You're a person." God, that got me. Alan and Jono and everyone at Cinema Therapy, thank you for everything. Y'know that feeling where your heart grows three sizes and feels like it's going to explode with emotion? I don't think there's a word to describe it, but that's what your channel has done. Thank you for all the tears and laughter and joy your channel has brought to the world. Here's to five more years.
My goodness, five years. Time flies and I definitely did not cry through the entire video (yes I did). I remember watching your episode on Samwise and hoping there was more; how far Cinema Therapy has come! Brings me such joy to have watched Alan, Jonathan, and the channel grow over the years, really proud of your whole team for this accomplishment and grateful for the work you all do. Can't wait for the next five years (and the five after that, and the five after that). Happy Anniversary!
Are you guys TRYING to make me cry?? Cause it's WORKING.
I came across Cinema Therapy during one of my depressive episodes and immediately fell in love with the concept. Seeing this was beautiful.
I don’t have many heroes in my life but Jono and Alan are mine. I would fan-boy over them more than nearly any celebrity or societal icon. I hope I get to meet them some day.
I hope so too.
I love this
Absolutely beautiful!
great job everyone!
Didn't know I was going to cry this evening. Thanks for all the feels and here's to many more years! 🥰
Oh my gosh!!! The Hug, you had to add The Hug!! 🥹🥹🥹
i need to find that episode
Let's GOOOOOO
Omg it's amazing!! I cannot believe it's already been 5 years! Time is a hole. Remind me, how fast did the channel expand? I remember watching a new video where the two of you were flabbergasted at the growth (to 3000 subs? Or maybe it jumped by 3000 subs) and I had started watching just before that. I think I found it before that
I do not have the answer to this, but I remember the first video of their that had ever been suggested to me by the algorithm and that I watched first was the Tangled Mother Gothel gaslighting video. Man, it's been so long since then.
Amazing job by Caleb Blood (could that be a cooler name?) And the musicians! I got goosebumps listening to the recording AND it hit me again this time! Bravo Brava Bravissimo! I am really loving the clips that got used! The turtle dance is my new favorite clip!
Blood is actually Megan's (producer/writer/wife) maiden name. Caleb is her cousin. I've known the guy since he was an 18 yr-old aspiring singer-songwriter. And I'll still be related to him when he's winning his 4th oscar in 20 years.
I'm not crying you're crying! 😭😭 Thank you for 5 years of understanding, love, and no small number of crying sessions (plenty of laughter too) Excited to continue watching the channel grow!
No idea how long the recording session was, but I'm brought to tears in just this 2 minute video.
Two 2hr sessions. One with 15 strings, and the other with 9 brass players. Rest of the instruments (and the choir!) are digital from Caleb, our genius composer. Tears courtesy of David (editor) and Emily (producer of our Patreon content), and also Corinne who chipped in with notes on this one. And Trevor, our lead editor/post producer. Real team effort on this one.
I can't begin to express how much you helped me grow as a person over the years. Thank you, and congratulations for your five years anniversary. Here's for many more years.
Dammit, you guys. You made me cry. AGAIN.
Mission accomplished!
Love this! Congrats! <3
Congrats on 5 years guys! I cried through literally the last half of that.
Has it really been 5 years already?! Time really does fly by. Keep up the great work guys.
Small orchestral intro? Awesome!
Happy 5th anniversary! Keep kicking ass and taking names! 🤘
