May Grab Bag of Mystery: Dream Casting with Megan

I need Jenna Ortega as Vin 😭 that would be so kickass

Love the mistborn castings! Though i will never backdown in saying that my pick for Elend HAS to be Louis Partridge. And honestly? Bring Henry Cavil into a Mistborn adaptation as well, since he's a big Sanderson fan, i can see him either playing Kelsier or The Lord Ruler!

I'd like to see Megan dream cast a FAITHFUL adaptation of Mansfield Park. Admittedly, Mansfield Park is my least favorite of Austen's novels, but it's still extraordinary & I would love to see it adapted well, but no one wants to try. As Megan is an Austen aficionato, I'd like to hear her vision for this one.

I LOVE Mistborn!!! Alan, you need to hit up Brandon Sanderson ASAP! Megan really is amazing at this, haha

I never thought I’d be up for a re-make, but boy would I like to see all of these!

I LOVE MISTBORN!!!!! I will do ANYTHING to help you with this project! I even started a storyboard for a sequence in one of the books. :D

I just watched Wonka for the first time last night. Having seen him as a clergyman now, feel Rowan Atkinson would make a pretty great "mawwiage" priest!

The only recast i would do is Natalie Dormer as buttercup.

A personal favorite of mine is The First Law book trilogy. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it, and I would love for a dream cast of Logan Nine Fingers and Sand Dan Glokta. For anyone interested in the series I highly recommend the audiobook. Steven Pacey is a master of voice acting. I'd listen to that man read a phone book.

The fact I just read mistborn last month and this was mentioned as a hypothetical movie! I would love to see any Sanderson movie tbh but mistborn since it was my first Sanderson book it will always have a special place in my heart

For Fezzik, Dalip Singh

Buttercup Florence Pugh

More of these for the love of God, this is one of my favorite pastimes with my friends haha

This is amazing! Love the idea of Diego Luna as Westley and Michael Sheen as Vizzini (though I could also see him as Count Rugen). And for another movie franchise to recast (that should never be remade, just saying): The Lord of the Rings.

Great ideas! For While You Were Sleeping, if we could go back in time a bit or age them up, I'd say Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. Ryan Reynolds as Peter, Blake Lively as his girlfriend.

BEST. FANCAST. EVER. of Mistborn!! Please, Hollywood gods, make it happen! I bet Brandon Sanderson would be on board with it!!!

So glad to see more Megan!! I would love to see her cast an animated movie. Maybe Prince of Egypt? 👀

Diego Luna actually played Inigo in charity movie version of princess bride with Jack Black as Westley in their duel and he was absolutely great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bi0RQMA6eLo

I think Brandon Sanderson's said he envisions Mistborn visualized best as an episodic series over feature length film but would love to see any adaptation of the trilogy. In my mind I think Maisie Williams would be fantastic as Vin. Jenna might be a bit more elegant in a ballgown but I think Maisie absolutely killed it with the darker assassin side in GoT. For the Lord Ruler I picture Giancarlo Esposito - he can pull off that air of arrogance and pure superiority the Lord Ruler flaunts around the entire story.

This was so so fun!! Thank you! And I'm with Maddy DeVeuve; Alan needs to direct Mistborn🤩 Hats off and long live the queen of recasting👑

I NEED to see Alan direct Mistborn!!!

Oh my gosh, i would love to see Alan direct Mistborn!!

Headcanon accepted. Or should I say, Megan-canon accepted? Also, thank you for the disclaimer "The Princess Bride should never be remade; nobody touch it. BUT if it had never BEEN made and was being made now for the first time ever..." Also 2, I wanna read "Mistborn" now. Sounds awesome. For a second I thought you were gonna cast Charlie Hunnam as Kelsier, but since I don't know the character I really shouldn't make any suggestions. And just like you guys, my love for Oscar Isaac knows no bounds, so yes, cast him in everything. Yep.

I love this concept as a series ❤️

Love this. Thank you, Megan! I was geeking out about the Mistborn section.

Loved this! More please! Also a couple of alternate casting ideas: For “The Princess Bride”…The Mawwage Priest: Fred Armisen. He immediately came to mind. He’d be so great at an over-the-top comedic part like that. (Though Sam Richardson would also be great.) For “While You We’re Sleeping”… Jack could be played by Bill Pullman’s son, Lewis Pullman (who is an amazing actor). Bill Pullman could play his father Ox. And Lucy, could be played by me…I already have the perfect name for it heeehee.

Mistborn cast is great, but no choice for the Lord Ruler? 😭 Could even just be a VA over a large imposing guy in a cloak, a la Darth Vader.

I think Matt Berry would have been a great choice for The Albino. And I would have cast Ruby Cruz as Vin.

This is pure fun! I have no notes, with the exception of casting Buttercup for TPB. I want to think outside the box and give Buttercup a stronger spine while keeping the "doe-eyed princess" angle, so I like Ariana Greenblatt, Millie Bobby Brown, or Sadie Sink.

Ooh! New idea: The Princess Bride but make it queer and have Kiera Knightly as the dashing Dread Pirate Roberts! She basically was already by the end of Pirates. 😂😂😂

This is absolutely a super power! I love all these choices. Mistborn has very similar vibes to the Ravnica plane in Magic: The Gathering.

Ok, who should direct the new Princess Bride - Princess Brider

This is such a fun short! Please do more! The Mistborn casting is SPOT ON, but I have a couple suggestions for The Princess Bride because, ironically, my friends and I were literally discussing this yesterday: 1. Bring back Fred Savage as the grandpa; he can even be canonically the same character, just reading to his grandkid now so that the differences in the film are because we’re seeing how his grandkid is envisioning things this time around. 2. David Tenant as Count Rugen. We already know he can do the charming psychopath. 3. While I would KILL to see Michael Sheen as Vizzini, I think Danny Devito could also pull it off (think how he is in Matilda). 4. Florence Pugh as Buttercup? It would basically be reprising her role as Amy from Little Women but with her humor from Black Widow. 5. Shaquille O’Neal for Fezzik? Whenever I’ve seen him in interviews, he’s so soft-spoken and engaging that I think he could do justice for the “gentle giant” archetype.

This is a great idea. Would love to see more of these. How about a recasting for "Flash Gordon" and who you would cast if you were going to make the "Chronicles of Narnia" into a series?

This was fun. Megan is amazing and I love how excited Alan is about Megan's ability to do this. I'd love to see more of these if Megan is up to it.

YES PLEASE CAST DIEGO LUNA IN A DREAD PIRATE ROBERTS INIGO SEQUEL

OMG!!! Yes!!! Mistborn

So good! I want to see these made!! I feel like bill Pullman’s son Lewis could be great for while you were sleeping. He played bob in top gun.

Ooooo, I love this game! Again, again! For some reason I can't stop seeing Keira Knightley circa 2004 as Buttercup.

Dream casting game idea: The Silmarillion. So many great characters, even more side characters, very difficult source material.

That was Amazing!!! Yes please would love for more of these!!!

Dang, that's an amazing super power,, Megan! Kudos! All I could come up with was Ariana Greenblatt as Buttercup but maybe she'd be better in the Mists one?

I saw all of the Mistborn books as a movie in my mind, but one of the scenes that was most clear in my mind was the scene where Breeze is teaching Vin about Rioting. I loved the visuals of having servants coming out in differing colors to signify which emotion should be done next. Make it happen! Alan needs all the money. Make it happpppeeeeeen.

Okay, look... I'm not against gender swapping, and I absolutely LOVE Streep... but I would prefer Breeze to remain a male character, given his total story arc. I would love to see Matt Berry as Breeze! And YES, do this again, please!

Insert Kuzco “No touchy” gif regarding The Princess Bride. But I do love this casting, especially Alan Tudyk and Judy Greer. I’d have considered William Shatner for Vizzini.
