Cinema Therapy Studios 2024 Film Pitches

CT Studios (us, plus all of you) is making a short film this year! And you (paying patrons) get to choose which short film to greenlight!
Just like a Hollywood studio, and real film writers, we haven't written the scripts yet, we're pitching you ideas of films to make. Once you give us the go-ahead, we'll write the script, start storyboarding and casting, and plan our shoot.
So, once you've watched the video, click on the Poll post below, to vote for the film you want the Studio to make this year, and be sure to join us on April 24th for the big reveal!

And stay tuned for weekly progress updates on the short. Things are really going to get kicked into high gear from here on out! Making movies is incredibly slow, until suddenly, once greenlit, there's never enough time to get everything done!

I think Ashes to Ashes should be a feature, not a short.

Soooo, if you turn your head this way and squint, there are similarities between the plot of Unrealized and The Big Chill, which I really really hope you can take a look at someday, though it isn't your usual fare.

Aww man! Meet u had me at hello, but ashes to ashes sounds wonderful as well-based on a true story 💕 However, I am all about the dark comedy!
Rom coms are definitely my jam, but then I heard the pitch for Ashes to Ashes. Now I just don’t knowwww!! This is exciting!!
All such great ideas! I do think the third pitch is a more obtainable goal for a studio's first film. But honestly I can wait to cry at all of them when they are eventually finished.
First off, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge that Jono has CLEARLY not skipped arm day in a while. (I am *nothing* if not inappropriate. 😉) I was SO SURE after hearing the Unrealized pitch that the other two wouldn’t be my picks and then I was like… dammit… oh DAMMIT!! Y’all aren’t making this easy on me. The one thing I can hope is that eventually all three will get made, because they’re all fantastic. Ok. I think I have my pick. Sort of. Yes. Well… yes. Dammit.

This is all so exciting! Honestly, though, if I was picking what to see at the theaters then I'd go for Unrealized. That feels like a topic that would help the most people in the process.

K, the way Jono said "He just peed a little" makes me think it was a Community reference, and if so, very well done slipping that in. ...if not I've probably just seen too much Community.

I saw the vote post first and voted, and I stand by that vote. Although this did make me question my choice a bit
MeetU sounds so fun and has the possibility of being both dark and wholesome. Idk I'm a sucker for that concept 🙈
My gut instinct before watching this pitch video was MeetU. Still is after watching the video. Guess I'll go vote on the other post now.

I agree wth Smidge that Ashes deserves a full length format. As a tip of the hat to Joel & Ethan, they could get the ashes in the face a la Big Lebowski.
Is this the Poll post? I have some ideas for the 3 pitches. Unrealized strikes me as a Devil Wears Prada for guys... the hero could take the manager position and be heavily over-worked (doesn't have to be a narcissist boss, could be corp policy), which leaves him little time for personal anything, let alone self discovery... his quest could begin with opening up some 'me time' and go from there. For Meet You, there's a great scene in Soderbergh's 'Schizopolis' where the only dialogue is stage directions, but delivered as the acting beats the directions indicate... it's very funny and could work really well with your AI concept. Could be filmed in the surreal steam punk style of 'Poor Things' with a retro feel for the days when your friends (or parents, god forbid) set you up. Seems like you have the most developed idea for both the screenplay and cinematic style of Ashes to Ashes. I vote for Meet You (Dating in the Time of AI)

As much as I love the STORY of Ashes to Ashes, I feel like that story needs a feature length to breathe. Same with Unrealized. I thing MeetU has the best chance to be told well and completely in a compact runtime, to it gets my vote. c:

1. I'm feeling called out for being a shlub for gaming when that's literally how my husband (38) and I (32 next week) spend our free time doing that same thing 😂😂😂. 2. Jono dramatically licking his lips is not something I will ever unsee on a trauma level 🤣. 3. I love the idea of the challenge of filming on the road for you guys. I'm sure it'll make filming for the standard show a little more complicated, but I love the idea for that story so much. Finally, Jono, Alan may have dropped the ball on Spice Girls, but I was dancing and singing right there with you 🤣. I'll be happy with any choice that gets picked!

As someone who lost a very close sibling suddenly last year, and now has an incredibly strained relationship with a parent, your final pitch just screams to my soul! Grief and complicated family dynamics also happen to be the themes I love listening to the two of you discuss most. Also… where is the short film about NYE 2003? Asking for a friend.
