Progress Update - Episode 15

Another week with a lot of progress, I would say.

- Post-render work. 90% done. Some last checks, fixes, and that's it. I fixed a few renders that were too bright, they are still bright, but it's okay... Still a few bright ones which I couldn't darken too much because their skin would turn a weird red, and that was worse than being bright.
- All previous episodes have been recoded. That went smoother than I thought. I also thought that would take much longer. But hey. Happy that's done. I only made script changes that were absolutely necessary. The rest is for the remakes. I hope I got them all, but with testing I might find more.
- Coding of episode 15 and the remake of 4 is also completed.
- Spelling/grammar check for ep 15 also done. Plus, I corrected a few more errors in previous episodes. I think I got most of them now? Redid the Spanish parts, too.
- Frame to movie conversion also done. There were 2 "animations" that were so bad that it was impossible to save them. So, they are removed. They are both in episodes which will get a remake anyway in the future. Funny thing. Episode 15 will be smaller than episode 14 due to removing all those extra frames now. That saves +/- 4-5 GB. Which is a positive side-effect.
- Other minor stuff like upgrading buttons, menus and so on also done. There might be a little more, but I'm happy with how it looks so far.
- Gallery has been completed.
- I started testing already since the game launched, and no errors yet. I did a few multi-routes, and those worked as intended. There was a minor bug at first where a route which was closed early, all of a sudden reopened a little later. And I actually didn't mind it. So, I kept it in. But it's only on a specific route, and you can end it right there again or keep messing around.
- The point changes for Erynn and Layla work too. I removed one point gain for Emily, but getting the bike still has the same requirements, so that has been a little bit more "difficult" to get the bike now. Just be nice to Emily, and there's no problem.

That brings us to music. The thing I had planned was to have background sounds where possible and songs at appropriate places.
Here's the issue. I just don't have/find sounds for most scenes. I have traffic sounds, park sounds, ocean, shower, bar, restaurant and so on... But for example classroom, cafeteria, hallways, gym, there's a bunch more, I wasn't too happy with because they got old very quickly, hearing the same stuff. So for scenes I don't have background sounds for, I use some "chill" lofi songs instead. For most places, I use the same songs since that's all I have for now. Once I have more, I start to exchange them for new ones. But that will be an ongoing process since licensing is a bitch. What I envision is to have every location have its own songs. School has a bunch of songs, MC house has a bunch, Monroe house has a bunch and so on. So every location feels and sounds unique. What do you think of that approach?
I'm not going to do too many environmental noises. I have a few. But I'm not putting in sounds when they close a car door or a normal door or ring a doorbell or any of that type. It sounds cheap to me in a way. Maybe because I don't have good sounds for it. I don't know.
So what I'm doing now is putting the music at the correct places.

Once all that is done. I can do a thorough test and play the game myself after quite a while. Maybe make some minor changes then but yeah, it's getting there. May? Maybe? I might have an answer next week.
