quick question

I saw the comments about sinners not really needing to be a night vision movie.

A quiet place is in second place on that poll..

would y'all be happy if I watch Quiet place in Night vision for 10/5 and then Sinners could be that first Wednesday upload?

Sinners is a top tier movie, and so is A Quiet Place, but if your goal is to have a "scared in the dark" reaction", I would have went with Weapons or Obsession. The first two are serious dramas that also happen to be horror movies, but the latter two are just straight up in your face horror movies out to scare the willies out of you.

I think that's the best way to handle these films. They're both great, but "Sinners" doesn't really warrant night vision. It has moments that are creepy, haunting, surprising, scary and even sad, but not much to make you freak out or jump much, "A Quiet Place" is a more apt for night vision, IMO.

Quiet Place isn't a good one for night vision either, but I haven't seen Sinners, so I'll leave it to the people who have seen both.

"A Quiet Place" is not a good choice for "Night Vision Viewing" if you mean using night vision goggles or a specialized green/monochromatic filter setup. It is a sensory based science fiction and 75% of the film takes place in complete darkness. One of the ad lines is "If they hear you, they hunt you." One ad says "knowing that even the slightest whisper or footstep can bring death". Much of the film has little or no dialogue so that the viewer must pay attention to visuals which are intentionally filmed in the dark. The monsters or aliens are blind, sound hunting predators The movie is shot with a "Severe Shadow Crush" and intended to force the viewer to rely on critical color cues. So the picture already has a Big Loss of VISUAL Cues. DO NOT IMPAIR VIEWING OF A QUIET PLACE WITH NIGHT VISION TECHNOLOGY with any shading or specialized green/monochromatic filter setup. Language is important!

She'll see the normal picture. Is that what you're worried about? Her footage is in night vision cause she'll have her lights off.

I THINK SINNERS KIND OF FALLS IN BETWEEN BOTH. NOT SO MUCH A NIGHT VISION MOVIE, BUT I THINK AESTHETICALLY IT WOULD WORK BETTER IN THE DARK. I UNDERSTAND BOTH SIDES OF THE ARGUMENT

It’s not really a night vision movie, but it’s not really a Wednesday, “light hearted”, movie either. At the end of the day, I don’t think it will matter a big deal. Lol.

John Carpenter's Vampires would be a great night vision movie. Or maybe not for Hallobeans but it's a fun watch!

Sinners isn't as scary as other night vision movies, but I think it deserves to be watched in the dark. It's just a better atmosphere for it.

Came here to say exactly this.

I think the dark will make your reaction to the movie better even if it’s not absolutely necessary for 100% of it. That said, I’m just stoked you’re going to react to it at all, so either way.

Its true. Sinners is not really a needed night vision movie. Though I find it scary in other ways. And it's definitely one of if not the best movie of 2025.

Is it bad for night vision? Is it because it’s majority quiet enough she’ll hear her own house creak?

G
Grumpy Santa · September 14, 2026

Sounds good here

I think you’d like obsession and/weapons a lot more. But I know the poll has to decide
