ok but sam neil could get it
I honestly I was bawling my eyes out the first time I watched this movie as a kid.
Damn. After Dolly yesterday and Tim Curry today, I didn't need this big ass cry today but here we are! Phew. I need to go take some meds to cure my cry headache. Suggestions for a Tim Curry tribute: The Three Musketeers (1993) Muppet Treasure Island (1996) Will Shakespeare (1978)
Well very very sad news, and I hate to be the one to tell you this...Dolly Parton has passed away. Not sure what movie of hers you could watch in memory of her that you haven't watched already...
I don't think Ashleigh's doing okay today.
This is one of my top favorite Robin Williams movies along with “Hook”, “What Dreams May Come”, & “One Hour Photo”. I put them in a special category: Films I Didn’t Think Robin Williams Would Do. But I’m glad he did because it’s wonderful & at the end of the film, one of my favorite Celine Dion songs play called, “Then You Look at Me”. Everything about this film was great but what made it even more special this time to me is being able to watch you watch it, knowing you would love it & crying together because it catches me up, too.
I saw this in theatres with my father when it premiered. We were the only two people in the theatre, so there's a 5-10 minutes stretch of this I've never seen because I had to go pee in the middle of the picture.
Ok after recognizing the lady who plays Amanda/Portia I have one thing to say to Ashleigh: You need to see Matilda as soon as possible! Also it's funny how the star of Matilda, (Mara Wilson) was also in a movie with Robin Williams (Mrs. Doubtfire)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen you cry so much after a movie. So glad you liked the movie though
Ooh, no, she had a huge cry in Big Fish and My Girl.
This is my favorite Isaac Asimov adaptation of all time. An almost perfect film. And damn was Oliver Platt fucking hilarious as hell, but being in scenes with the GOAT Robin Williams, it goes under appreciated.
is there going to be a watch along for this movie?
Just posted!
Glad you enjoyed it and it made you feel. Those are the really good movies. Go give a loved one big hug.
I for one didn't vote for this to make you cry. I voted for it cause it's a beautiful story and wanted you to see it. I am glad you did so thanks for that. Robin Williams might be the lead in this movie but Sam Neil's Sir is a great part of this even after his passing cause he started Andrew's journey and even years later his words was still cared weight.
Different kind of big emotions also reacting to "The Fisher King"
32:53.... holy moly, was that the Carmen San Diego tv show lady?!
sure was
The singer and actress Shelley Fabares just died. A big hit for her was her song “Johnny Angel”; and with her acting career, she did several films with Elvis Presley himself! If Ashleigh decides to do a tribute poll for her, I would suggest such films as: The Bad Seed (original 1956 version) Girl Happy Clambake Spinout Brian’s Song (original 1971 version)
Good list. Love to see an interesting compare and contrast The Bad Seed (1956) and Brian's Song (1971) Most of the time the original is far superior to remakes or reboots.
Oh Ashleigh. Nice.... boob hold right after Andrew's "numb your breasts" joke. lol
Another very good movie with Robin Williams and Robert DiNero...."Awakenings" Ashleigh you enjoy true stories, and Awakenings is a true story...big emotions.
A bit of a caveat to Awakenings: Dr. Oliver Sacks, who wrote the book the film is based on, admitted shortly before his death and in his diaries that he'd falsified many of his case studies out of thin air for his books and essays. While many parts of Awakenings are based on documented studies, it's unclear which specific patient anecdotes are real and which were invented out of thin air. Often, the patients whose stories were used in his writings had not given permission for their cases to be published. Many of them, including the wife of "The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat", said his version of events was utterly inaccurate. I used to be a tremendous fan of Dr. Sacks' works, and recommended him to anyone within earshot. Sadly, he was a bit of a fraud in the end.
