SAM NEILL redo!

I was reading all the comments and saw several of the options on the poll doing poorly so I decided a re-do with your most requested added in

I watched Wimbledon for his passing. His part was small, but, I really like that movie.

Finally something I picked is winning. I really hope it stays that way. I think Ashleigh will LOVE Bicentennial Man.

Brian Booher · July 22, 2026

Sam Neill has a much bigger role in Memoirs Of An Invisible Man

I missed the opportunity to comment on the omissions of the first poll but it is still applicable after the revision. I think the greatest Sam Neill film is the international & Aussie hit comedy drama "The Dish" (2000). [Some say that because of marketing mistakes, it is relatively unknown in the US]. It is truly heart warmingly entertaining and Sam leads the cast. It is also based on historical fact and involves a little (but important) piece of NASA's Apollo 11 moon landing significance. (The names were changed to protect the guilty who also risked their own lives!) I was a kid when Apollo 11 launched and I as an adult I feel like the kid in the film watching the launch. I even count down the microwave with the same phrase he used in the film. So many magnificent scenes in this film. How they made it a drama and actually epic is amazing. Hoping some day it will get Ashleigh's reaction! I voted for the Piano, the classic. Sam (like the rest of the cast does great). I originally viewed it to see Holly Hunter (my third future ex-wife).

I love seeing how split this is because he was awesome in everything.

Been after Ahsley for years to watch Bicentennial Man. need to make it happen so i can move onto another classic

Going to reiterate that since tribute viewings are integrated into the schedule unexpectedly and push out any other plans, it's best to expect that television will not be eligible for tribute viewings. Television takes much more planning since a season alone takes up a whole month of time (even if the thing being suggested as tribute as short, this is still relevant regarding whatever show is going, in this case, "Supernatural"). In the grand scheme of things, significantly fewer shows are going to get reactions just due to time. I don't remember how shows have been watched on the channel but my guess is that despite having been doing TV for two years, it's less than 15 shows (many of which are not finished yet, like "The Boys"). It has nothing to do with the quality of the show to say that logistically, I just wouldn't count on it.

Tyler Foster · July 16, 2026

If In the Mouth of Madness doesn't win now, you should advance schedule it for October! (It's a night vision movie.)

J
Joshua Reichert · July 16, 2026

The Piano is an incredible movie

D
Darrell Minor · July 16, 2026

I would LOVE to see Possession win because it’s was one of his early roles. I think he did this and The Final Conflict at the same time. That movie is just bizarre and yet brilliant and twisted. Very twisted.

r
rock4u1973 · July 16, 2026

I know that he wasn’t the major star in my opinion but I still think that you should watch The Horse Whisperer

J
Joanne Burke · July 16, 2026

Sam Neill was a really lovely man and deserves to be remembered as something more than a bit part character. Dead Calm and Hunt for the Wilderpeople would both be good choices. As a NZ'er this poll is special.

E
EJN · July 15, 2026

Bicentennial Man is more of a Robin Williams movie…why is it on the poll? I know Sam Neil is in it but still..

s
ssb031 · July 15, 2026

I would love to watch Dominion, but I think we should also watch Rebirth to finish the franchise. I will bow to the comments and vote for In the Mouth of Madness. :)

T
Tassana Burrfoot · July 15, 2026

I vote for JW, but I’m one of those people who like to see full circle conclusions. Like, seriously. It is the conclusion of the 6-part series (like it or hate it. Personally, I loved it, but I tend to be in the minority. I love it for what it is and for what it means.) I think the new one, Rebirth?, is a reboot or something. I haven’t seen it yet. That said, Bicentennial Man was another amazing movie. Yes, Robin Williams plays lead and Sam Neill is a supporting character, but who doesn’t love a Robin Williams movie?

s
ssb031 · July 15, 2026

I agree! Rebirth wasn't a reboot. It was set 5 years after Dominion (in 2027) and 34 years after the original JP. It is, honestly, a cash grab. It's not great. It has all the elements you expect from the franchise (obligatory running for their life from the meat-a-sauruses, big bad company...) but it's not a blockbuster for sure. If you love the franchise, it's worth a watch, just don't have high expectations.

Ben Beckham · July 15, 2026

Bicentennial Man is both funny and serious. It will touch your heart and tickle your funny bone. Sam Neil is great in this, as he was in anything else I've ever seen him in.

P
Pillars13moons · July 15, 2026

though he is a important supporting character, and it's in the top 4 of my favorites for romance, even in the top of a handfull of all movies, but he's supporting. It is more ROBIN WILLIAMS. BUT I WOULDNT BE MAD ABOUT IT. I know you'd like the full version mini series "MERLIN". He is excellent as MERLIN. SUPERB CAST. JAMES EARL JONES, MIRANDA RICHARDSONX2, ISABELLA ROSELINI (DEATH BECOMES HER), RUTGER HAUER (BLADE RUNNER), MARTIN SHORT, HELENA BONHIEM CARTER. It also shows the more correct time period for KING ARTHUR, other variants thru history moved it up a bit. This is close to after the ROMANS left. It's so good, I SOMEHOW I FELL IN LOVE WITH MARTIN SHORT OF ALL PEOPLE! (FRICK)THATS A GOOD JOB! I did like NEIL and LAWARENCE FISHBORNE in EVENT HORIZON (KINDA A LOVECRAFTIAN HORROR), but it's not for everybody to put it lightly. Because of that I typically dont recommend EVENT HORIZON to people I dont know. Extreme and triggery for some people. New fears unlocked.

S
SaucyKitty11 · July 15, 2026

Another Frick fan!! He was one of my first childhood crushes

A
Amanda · July 15, 2026

Possession at only 2%?!

T
Tyler Foster · July 16, 2026

One of the thing that is endlessly frustrating about Patreon Polls is that if there's a movie 75% of the voting base has seen, and 20% of those people vote for it, that is going to demolish a movie where only 10% of the voting base has seen it even if 100% of those people vote for it. It is always, always, *always* first and foremost influenced by the raw number of people who have seen a given movie at all.

M
Meredith Shivers · July 15, 2026

I wish A Cry in the Dark was on the poll. Not many people know it by its other name Evil Spirits.

B
Brandon Collins · July 15, 2026

Ashleighif you read this, Sam Neill is only in a very small portion of Bicentennial Man. You might want to take that into consideration.

N
Neal Riggins · July 15, 2026

Dead Calm is so under rated. But it's older so the younger crowd has probably not heard of it.

T
Tami Studey · July 15, 2026

Go Bicentennial Man go.

A
Austin Olding · July 15, 2026

Bicentennial man+ one of the others

M
Morgan Bridgland · July 15, 2026

I would have loved to have seen The Dish on this list, but I've definitely put my vote for Wilderpeople.

V
Vicious Trollop · July 15, 2026

Why can we only vote for one movie in the new poll? At any rate, my 2 favorites, Dead Calm and The Hunt for the Wilderpeople, have no chance of winning, I'll throw my vote behind In the Mouth of Madness in the small hope that it might be able to pull ahead & we can watch an actual Sam Neill movie to honor him. I hate that, yet again, the memorial selection is going to be a movie that is not even about the person we lost. Sam is only in the first act of Bicentennial Man, less than a third of the film. Bicentennial Man is a Robin Williams movie, not a Sam Neill movie, but I guess that doesn't matter to people.

A
Atlas Image · July 15, 2026

I will watch The Hunt for the Wilderpeople, the name sounds interesting, and I changed my vote to Mouth of Madness as well.

L

Merlin. he was amasing.

S
SaucyKitty11 · July 15, 2026

Seconded! Merlin was my introduction to Sam Neill

N

Dead Calm is so good!

C
Caroline Cocozza · July 15, 2026

Outside of Jurassic Park, my favorite Sam Neil was the TV miniseries Merlin. :) *immediately had to edit out the cast spoilers that I initially listed. You will love the cast.

C
Curtis · July 15, 2026

Bicentennial Man is more of a Robin Williams movie.

J
John Liebling · July 15, 2026

Maybe the best solutions are for Ashleigh to watch both Bicentennial Man and Mouth of Madness.

R
Richard Stegman Jr. · July 15, 2026

“Possession” would be better for HalloBeans.

R
Richelle Gill · July 15, 2026

I think thos is a good example of his work.

S
Sarah H · July 15, 2026

The second lead in Hunt for the Wilderpeople is annoying, and I can see Ashleigh not vibing with the movie because of it. Vote as you will, but Ashleigh's enjoyment should also be considered, even during a tribute film.

T
Tyler Foster · July 15, 2026

I would be pretty shocked if she didn't *love* all of Wilderpeople. I have actually never heard of a single person not thinking Dennison was delightful.

C
CJ · July 15, 2026

Thank you for adding Dead Calm. Anyone who didn't vote for it NEEDS to watch it.

A
Atlas Image · July 15, 2026

I liked it, really, nothing I have seen Sam in that I have disliked, even his parts in JW Dominon he brought it, even if the studio messed up the rest of the movie. This poll is one of the trickiest I have taken part in, I agree with all the options and there are so many comments that I wholeheartedly agree with for the vote. Ended up changing it from Bicentennial Man to Mouth of Madness.

J
John Liebling · July 15, 2026

Bicentennial Man is by far the best of the bunch. Show casing the terrific talents of the very human Robin Williams. There are plenty of big laughter moments in many of his films and many big tearful feeling moments.

V
Vicious Trollop · July 15, 2026

That would be great if we were celebrating Robin Williams, but this is for Sam Neill. I think we should watch a movie that celebrates Sam.

J
Jassell B · July 15, 2026

I'm thinking most people haven't watched alot ofhis films, and they're simply choosing Bicentennial Man because it's a Robyn Williams movie....But I could be wrong. It's Hunt for teh Wilderpeople or Jurassic World Dominion for me. That kid from the teh second Deadpool movie is in Wilderness, and I've heard it's one of the best films from the last year or so. I would choose The Piano, bit its too dark, and I'm just not in the mood. Great movie though.

A
Adam Doyle · July 15, 2026

The Piano is an amazing Oscar winner and is a better Sam Neill movie (with Oscar award winner a young Anna Paquin!) But Bicentennial man has Robin Williams a bit weird but Robin willians.

V
Vicious Trollop · July 16, 2026

I think I would rather watch the better Sam Neill movie over a Robin Williams' movie to honor Sam Neill.

O
Ocelot · July 15, 2026

Hunt for the Wilderpeople and The Piano are two of his best movies

B
Brandon Collins · July 15, 2026

I would say this, Bicentennial Man is a Robin Williams movie. If you really want to see what Sam Neill was capable of in a leading role I would have to pick In the Mouth of Madness. Not only does he give a great performance in it, but he also happens to do it in what most would agree is Carpenter's last great film.

M
Michael Parker · July 15, 2026

Amen!!

C

S
SaucyKitty11 · July 15, 2026

Once again, I would like to throw in Merlin 1998 for your consideration, even for general viewing not on the channel. It's just a fantastic little piece

B
Bruce Haag · July 15, 2026

I second Merlin. Plus it has some of her favorites init

G
Geneva Conway · July 15, 2026

My vote is for Hunt for the Wilderpeople because it's got comedic elements as well as some moving moments. One of my favorite films, I find myself quoting that film quite often. Plus it was one of his favorite films that he did.

L
Lynette Cummins · July 15, 2026

I'm sticking with The Piano. It's too good for Ashleigh to miss out on.

H
Horace Cocroft · July 15, 2026

But that means I'll have to see Harvey Kietel naked again. That's a lot to ask!

C
Cal · July 15, 2026

I’ve only seen 4 of these but I hear hunt for the wilder people is really good.

M
MadLove · July 15, 2026

In the Mouth of Madness and Event Horizon are what I had looked for last time, so I'm glad one of them made it in ☺️
