Oi.. colonoscopy.. not fun at all! I've been there, I've done that. No thank you on that mess! I'm sorry that you're having to deal with that. :/ Yikes, man! I hope that you're doing alright! <3 ABSOLUTELY you need to take the day off! The next day I'd understand.. but yeah, schedules and all. Not eating foods is kinda boring but definitely doable. The NASTY stuff they have you drink though.. YUCK! xD HARD PASS ON THAT! xD I'm sorry if it bothers you to read that - but damn - that nastiness plagued me for a good while. :P lol, wise move to wait on Wonka. I don't remember what happened in the animated series. It's very likely that they changed that and many other things in this to fit the short episode span (not length). That's just a guess, though. :) I'm pretty sure that it's the delivery and directing. Everything in this series feels way off in that aspect. It's entertaining just not in a childish fun sort of way. This show feels like it's geared more toward teens than children. It obviously has some of the elements from the original series' content but none of the fun that the cartoon series had. hahahaha, many small aspects have been changed in this - yes. Their hope was that all of the small aspects wouldn't add up to people being upset.. but we'll see! I know that M. Knight Shyamalan's version was miiiiiiiiiighty weak (I really enjoyed this far more than that) but I wouldn't compare the two so quick. :) Right now? HA! He doesn't become a warrior this season at all. lmao - you can call him Big Fish Daddy if you want! :P YUP I'm with you on this show being mid. I watched the entire season already and it doesn't really improve much. It's a new series with new actors so it falls flat. I understand that I'm watching this late. I just wasn't excited at all for this one. MANY other things to watch that are a lot more entertaining than this. :) If we do happen to finish this season then okie doke - if not, I won't be upset about it.

Here to say how likable Nat is.

You're not going crazy, they definitely changed a BUNCH of stuff, both big and small!

I love the changes. I would be disappointed if they stuck to the original. It would have been like reading the same book in different print. For me, it is a perfect balance between maintaining the original plot and giving it a different twist. Also, the original series was made for kids. This is for adults. Apart from a few nits to pick, I enjoyed the first season.

Aang: nah, I don't wanna learn water bending Also Aang: If only there was a way for me to become the avatar but it seems impossible!

the show just aint hittin. unnecessary changes, characters don't feel right (Zukos pretty good imo) and weird pacing so far. 3 eps in the first and the 4th ep gets extended

I feel bad because theyre children but god the girl playing katara is so bad

Wish people would just accept this as its own thing and give it a chance instead of just rashly comparing it to the original all the time. I love the OG and I really enjoy this show, First 2 episodes I wasn't too sure but the later episodes are awesome and its awesome to see familiar things but told in a new and refreshing way. If you want the OG then go watch it. But if you plan on just comparing this to the OG then you might as well stop now.

Watching it is giving it a chance. If it was better we’d be more accepting of it. The action scenes were well done but everything else was subpar at best.

I actually really enjoyed the show. I also can watch a tv show multiple times in a row and never get bored. But I know that’s not for everybody 😂. I actually thought they were pretty smart with a lot of the changes they made. I really hope you give the next episode a try but I understand if you don’t want to.

Yeah they change quite a bit... some minor, some major. Minor like having Zhao go to Kyoshi Island too, major like having Kyoshi take over Aang's body. Minor like not having Aang's marbles, major like not having Unagi... minor like toning down Sokka's sexism, major like changing Sukis defining characteristic from fierce warrior to hot and bothered teen. Some fail, some are okay, most just seem unnecessary, as does this whole remake. I agree with you... The story was told better in the animated series.

In the animated series, Kitara straight up just stole the water bending scroll. But to avoid the entire pirate subplot, they had Gran Gran give it to her instead.

If you're enjoying Avatar that's awesome. Objectively, there's a lot wrong with it. If you're mot into film/TV production you won't necessarily notice it. Wonka was pretty good. Looking forward to watching it again.

March could be Japanese movie month! Blue Eye Samurai, Shogun, Godzilla Minus One, Karate Kid II (takes place in Japan) - Wolverine (Yep - takes place in Japan!) Boom! We have all of March planned out!

M
Mike Hell · March 1, 2024

Add Tokyo Vice to that list, a great show that nobody is watching.

I know Invincible won, but please check out Blue Eye Samurai. It’s worth it I guarantee. Plus it might be a nice companion piece to Shogun.

j
jamie jones · February 29, 2024

I wish i could even say this show was a disappointment. But when the creators of the anime quit this show over ‘creative differences’ with netflix, the writing was on the wall. Let’s switch to shogun. Infinitely superior show.

Please dont give up on the show yet. i am enjoying your commentary. You are giving a different perspective from other reactors. although i mostly agree with you:)

B
Blake Forsythe · February 29, 2024

Well she’s definitely no finishing it then because Episode 3 is the worst in the series. It sucks because it’s much better than the majority of reviews I’ve seen, but whatever I guess she just doesn’t want to rehash Avatar again.

Erik Stevenson · February 29, 2024

I definitely liked this episode much more than the first one. Suki and Zhao were legitimately good I think. Feels like they haven't figured out how to make Sokka actually funny, the comedy feels kind of try-hard. Kinda agree with your take though that, since this is the third time you've reacted to this basic story, it feels like it's mostly just rehash.

LightsCameraJake · February 29, 2024

As much as I personally really enjoy this show, I don't like seeing not NOT enjoying a show so I hope that she can put up a poll soon on what to watch that we can all enjoy. Lots of shows out there way worth her time.

C
CHRISXGAMESALOT · February 29, 2024

You’re right for the most part they decided to mix the episodes due to few episodes. I understand if you decide to skip this season. Book 2 was more of your jam anyway.

B
Bobby Kraus · February 29, 2024

Just watched the first episode of Shogun last night which was unbelievably well-done, maybe Andor can make it into the rotation once that is finished. Avatar was just incredibly underwhelming despite my hopes for it to succeed.

J

Go to episode 4, episode 3 is pretty mid.

J

Maybe a series you can watch on your own.

Happy Thursday Nat. I know I'm in the minority, but I actually enjoyed the first episode, so will see if this one appeals to me too 😊
