FIRST TIME WATCHING: Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Happy Feature Friday folks!

What a glorious day it is! I had such a great time with this movie. Although I knew I was going to cry, I don't think I was prepared for the amount of waterworks this film made me produce. I was a mess haha.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this one in the comments! For those who are curious, I watched this on Prime Video.

Thank you so much for your support here on Patreon. Until the next one, take care and stay golden! ✨

A lot of Superhero shows and films dealing with addressing Men’s mental health issues and isolation recently. Wonder Man, this film, Lanterns, Vision Quest and Mister Miracle (which finally had its cast announced Josh Hutcherson as Mister Miracle and Mackenzie Davis as Big Barda) coming soon. Like before it was touched on with stuff like Tony having PTSD and Logan but those examples seemed to always fall into the “just power through it” trope. Now we are getting material that goes a bit deeper (no shade to IM3 or Logan I live this films) but they had a very of their time attitude towards it.

Marvel had an excellent 2026 I think everything they put out was excellent. Wonder Man (which was created but the same director that did this film) was one of the best shows they’ve ever made. The Punisher special was a great bloody romp. Daredevil BA season 2 was a vast improvement over the first season and as good as the old Netflix series IMO, and even though it’s only 2 episodes in Vision Quest is off to a good start and finishing the trilogy of shows that started with Wandavision and Agatha All Along. I’m also more hopeful about Avengers Doomsday the closer we get to it.

I loooved this movie. And gosh the Aunt May stuff. I lost my mum at the end of last year, so that bit with her, and what Peter says really hit for me. Really enjoyed your reaction, Nat~! Thank you for doing what you do!

I remember early on people used to give you sh*t for your seeming sixth sense about things, but it's just a thing that happens, and we only notice the times it does, not the times it doesn't. My wife and I joke that any time I worry about something unknown, the answer almost always presents itself. Like I'll be driving in an unfamiliar area and say "Did I miss the exit?" and a quarter mile later is the exit. Or I'll suddenly wake up and go "Did I sleep in?" and ten seconds later my alarm goes off. (Those are some of the most mundane examples. Recently I said 'why haven't I heard [such-and-such song] on the radio in ages,' and then 15-20 minutes later it played. It's just lazy programming in The Matrix! =D

You said that you could finally watch the movie of the summer; I hope you watch The Odyssey when it comes out.

Evening Nat such a wonderful reaction as always. Can i make a suggestion for a Halloween movie if its not too late. Can you consider watching Halloweentown even if you watch it next Halloween. I just love to see your reaction to one my favorite Halloween movies of all time. and sure many do to.

It really is such a beautiful movie, and Tom Holland continues to be just excellent as Spider-Man. I'm very excited for the direction of Sadie Sink as Jean and that X-Men cast has me filled with anticipation. Love the reaction as usual, Nat!

Less than 3 minutes in and Nat has the tissues out 😆. No need to apologize for the simultaneous drops! We know the Marvel reactions bring in the big views. Get that bag 💰

i wasnt a fan of the last two spider-man movies so i wasnt looking forward to this one but im glad it was really good. i liked that the main villain and spider-man problem link into one so its not just a jean grey origin story. this felt like a really self contained spider-man movie, even with the mcu stuff thrown in but that felt more like animated spider-man stuff where sometimes the punisher will drop by. i will say, my biggest gripe with the tom holland spider-man films is that we still have no mention of uncle ben, even though he is the central point of making spider-man who he is. i wish he at least came in at the end of that memory and gave jean some advice. but no, its all aunt may for some reason. also, i gotta speak up for frank when you were berating him for wanting to take out jean, saying he was doing the same when he wasnt. the people he went after, all of them were murderers, he never and never will kill someone innocent knowingly.

I know people can be mean, but don’t beat up yourself too much about not remembering lore! These movies are meant to be enjoyed by children and non-marvel fans too 😭

Bummer timing, to me anyway. We get 1 month a year for “scary” movies and this is when we get Spider-Man. I’m sure I’m in the minority. I get Nat doesn’t love horror. I just like scary movies. That’s all.

Natmares is extended into November to make up for it so we'll still get the same content as usual

Fun fact time. Tom Holland and Jon Bernthal were working on a film together in 2015 and they recorded each other audition tapes for Spiderman and Punisher. Jon convinced Tom to not be afraid to show off his gymnastics skills which helped him get the role. Now it’s all come full circle and they get to play off each other in this film. You can tell they have great chemistry together.

To top it all off, those 2 plus Zendaya were basically filming this and THE ODYSSEY at the same time. Both movies released one week apart and made well over $1.7 billion EACH so those 3 had a GREAT July.

As I mentioned over on YouTube, please do not miss SHORT TERM 12 (2013) from the same director (Destin Daniel Cretton). A criminally overlooked gem featuring many actors pre-breakout and emotionally resonant family dynamics themes.

defo gonna check it out. his marvel work has really impressed me in particular Wonderman so im curious what his early stuff is like, just checked his filmograthy and hes done alot of work with Brie Larson and now in curious what he could do with a Captain Marvel film. imagine a film that adapts the rogue stealing Carols powers storyline and her struggles with alcoholism like in the comics, also bring in Jessica Jones and finally have them be besties like in the comics.

Happy Feature Friday Nat. I really enjoyed watching this movie when it came out. Crazy how successful it's been after a good run in theatres. Spidey still has legs in him yet. Looking forward to watching it again with you today 😊 Loved seeing this movie for a second time and I really enjoyed your reaction Nat. It's just a straight forward cool, emotional ride without being bogged down by all the damn multiverse nonsense that the MCU is obsessed with. And I loved the score as well. Thanks for your awesome Spidey video Nat. Have a brilliant weekend 😊
