I caught the first season of your reactions on YouTube before I joined your patreon. So I’m not sure if this is something you already do (and u suppose I can just go back and find out), but I was wondering how you feel about a season breakdown and discussion after the finales? It might be too much to ask, but I feel like you’ve really taken to this series and I would love to hear your takes on character progressions, story arcs, standout episodes and such.
Hi Natalie - I just watched the rewatch of the "Bewitched" Episode by Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) on her YouTube Channel. As you know from acting, often when you're shooting you may have little idea what the finished TV show or film looks like outside of the script. So in her channel she's rewatching the Buffy Series episode by episode, reacting to it, giving some behind the scenes info, and also talking about the Story and Character arcs. She also points out things she finds very insightful as she goes. So I thought you'd find her video on rewatching this episode fun. She does pick up on a lot of what you saw, and she has genuine delight in watching other members of the cast in their scenes. https://youtu.be/GPh_Y4bdL6w?is=4--8UbhnYxFAFfHv Cheers! Dave
I love that twice in this episode Xander barricades the inside of a door that opens out.
Had forgotten just how fun this episode was! I sure hope Nat ends up seeing season 3 as well. Not only because it's the best season, but also judging from her reaction to Willow in this episode I really would like to see her reaction to Willow in he episodes The Wish and Doppelgangland...
It’s actually crazy how good of a couple Xander and Cordelia are… like I think it’s the time when I found Xander not unlikeable 😅 when two of the bitchiest characters of the show get together and become one of the best couples oooohhh that’s the stuff! Can’t wait for next weeks reaction 👀🫣
If I remember right, SMG was hosting Saturday Night Life, and Buffy was turned into a rat to free up her scheduleing for hosting duties.
The episode does work better without her in the second half.
Man it has been a blast going through this season with ya nat
Next Year will be Buffy's 30th. I Wish... Nope nope nope Buffy Fans don't wish. At least not out loud. No telling who's listening. I hope we can get something like a Firefly-style movie for the series. Or at least a TV mini series. 4 to 8 hours for Buffy's 30th would be awesome. A pipe dream for sure, but one can Hope. (Not Wish) And if my Math is Mathing, we could get that Wish I hinted at right after Christmas. Just need a couple of Double Buffy Tuesdays if Nat has the time and we keep going with Season 3. This season ends with a two-parter that would work well for Natmares. Plus, Homecoming/Band Candy sounds great for that week following Thanksgiving if Nat has time for a double. Giving us that Wish leading into the New Year. Sweet way to end the year. If only I had a Demon who granted wishes. I tell y'all Anya would have gotten her own spin-off after season 8 if I had a few wishes.
Season 3 is even better thatn Season 2. Season 3 is where the writing and production team really fell into a groove and they actually had more stories than they knew how to put in.
So not important, but Buffy’s hair looks so good this episode. The rest of the season really.
Another great reaction! Unlike a lot of shows that have an episode then move on and forget it Buffy is very good at having characters stick around no matter how small their roles and not forgetting past episodes. It's one of the things I love about the show it makes it feel like a real world despite the subject being vampires and demons lol.
It definitely disntinguished itself in term of continuity. Star Trek was constantly changing it continuity.
When you were watching Obsession, I just kept thinking "Buffy did this concept first!".
Supernatural also did an episode similar to Obsession where a guy wishes for a woman to love him, and it doesn't work out well.
yeah as funny as this episode is its also the episode i realised i was never gonna like Xander. i had found him more annoying than funny even if he got a few good lines put in the back half of season 2 he's more miss than hit and in this episode there is just such a nasty streak to his motivation here i just realised I'd never be on board with him and he never really grows.
Xander is the result of growing Willow beyond her design. Xander takes on the heavy lifting of connecting us to the Buffyverse. Xander is the everyman.
I will say Xander's relationships have gotten less toxic. His first "relationship" was with a bug that wanted to eat him.
And his second was with a mummy!
Hi Natalie - I loved your reaction to the Bewitching Episode. It's a Banger! A great one on the Xander arc. Valentine's Day on the Hellmouth. Complete with tokens of Love that turn into rejection, revenge, blackmail, and a Spell gone Crazy Wrong. It gives the entire cast a big Twist to vibe on. It's Hilarious. Seeing the Lunch Lady from the School joining in added to the absurdity. And Angel being a split second away from biting Xander only to be diverted by Love Cursed Drusilla just took it all up a notch. They must have had Fun filming this Episode. In these Seasons in the Buffy series they always find a way to follow a heavy episode or two with a great funny one. And the producers love using various traditional Holidays like Halloween and now Valentine's Day to do some of their best imaginative and funny episodes. Cheers! Dave
One of my favorite episodes this season. Of course being a Joss Whedon show if you get a fun light hearted episode...you are going to have to pay for it, with interest. Can't wait for next week. 🫣
Poor doggo in the cone of shame. 😢. Get well soon.
Happy Buffy Tuesday 😊
I think I always look forward to your Buffy reactions the most now Nat. There's something nostalgic about sitting down and watching them with you. They used to be on BBC2 at 6pm and I'd watch them when I came in after work haha 😊 This was so fun Nat. Damn, they packed a lot into 45 minutes 😄
