I’m super late here. Two interesting things. #1 that last line Connie says to Reiner about “going to save the world” is a great parallel to when he first came to Paradis at 12 years old as a warrior because believed he was going to “save the world.” It’s also what he tells Eren at their meeting in the basement during Willy’s speech that he thought he knocking the wall down was going to save the world. As we’ve followed him in season 4 being haunted by what he’s done, now Connie, one of his friends he betrayed alongside Bertholdt back in the day, is giving him his purpose back. #2, there’s a dark parallel with the Eldians at the festival drinking and eating pie talking about how Eren is a devil dedicating his heart to save their lives and cheering him on with the Marleyans in early season 4 cheering for the news of Marleyan military victories with their army of “devils (Eldians). It’s a great summarization of how Paradis Island has become Marley, and also a lens into how Marley became such a despicable authoritarian state right after the Eldian Empire was overthrown 100 years ago.
Connie: Scout's Assemble! :D That's the thing about AoT that sometimes get's lost in the fray. AoT DOES tell a very compelling, complicated, emotional, mature, nuanced story. It DOES deal with a lot of adult themes... But at the end of the day... It's still an Action Adventure Anime. We still need the hype fuel. The cheesy one liners. The bad-ass action sequences. Sometimes we can go back to the fun that say season 1 provided. Back when we didn't know much about the world. And for that reason... The whole period of season 4 after Sasha's death to part 2... is tough to get through. Because its ALL serious drama.
I disagree because Connie’s line of saving the world is said specifically to Reiner who has been haunted by his action on Paradis because he was convinced knocking the wall down and Eren’s mom being eaten was “saving the world.” It’s quite intentionally directed as part of Reiner’s character and purpose.
Honestly I don't know what makes the episodes require a mature warning. Maybe it's because of the whole Hange killing a fellow Scout? And the other one was because of Eren wrecking Liberio... something about having "good" characters do morally ambiguous acts of violence.
I think it’s because Armin was going to kill himself. Its a little silly because the show has seen much more graphic stuff but there is some tv and streaming laws out there that suicide must have a disclaimer or warning
Onyankopon using his final moments to SPIT on these hoes and straight up called them “xenophobic scoundrels” 😭😭😭 KING 👑
the way they're all standing at the end, banger
its sad how annie just left hitch but i think its because shes worried she wouldve followed annie to the hell she knew she was going and had to do. hitch has experience as a soldier but very little combat experience. she'd most likely die if she went.
Yo ngl i thought you were wearing a prison jumpsuit.
Was thinking if you liked Al Pacino in Scarface and you never saw "The Devil's Advocate" before that could be a movie you'd put on a poll.
Happy Monday Nat. Enjoyed your streams last night. Looking forward to seeing what happens in AOT today 😊
