Just to say about Willow 's feelings about Xander dating Cordy. Cordelia bullied Willow, relentlessly, for years. Sure, she's a little jealous, but mostly she's annoyed that Xander is dating someone who was so vile to her. It always confuses me when people read her reaction as pure jealousy. I think she's also shocked that (some) boys are so obsessed with looks that character doesn't come into it at all.

If you want more werewolf fun Natmares season I'd recommend throwing Ginger Snaps from 2000 with Emily Perkins and Katherine Isabelle in the lead roles. It's bloody (pun inteded) good fun.

First time watching it with you where I realized that the moon has everyone acting weird. I was always baffled by THE ONLY MOMENT in the series where the show entertains Buffy/ Xander. I was deep belly laughing at your silence during that moment. It's so cathartic finally having an explanation for it all these years later. Thank you fellow patrons. I really like this episode. I love Larry coming out. I hate Xanders extreme discomfort, but it was the 90s | guess. Love this show, warts (the very few) and all. This, the slut comment, and Willows comment about Cordelia really aged like milk. Oh well. Thanks for watching! I've really been enjoying this. I've never joined a patreon for weekly commentary. Nice to jump into my favorite show again.

Fun Fact, Alyson Hannigan's second ever role was in My Stepmother is an Alien where her and Seth Green play two teens dating 10 years prior to this episode's airing

Buffy is usually good for padding some comedy in between the big traumatic episodes 😅 Like this one was more focused on the gang and specifically Oz, while Angel still manages to haunt the narrative both literally and metaphorically. Another casualty of the death of the 22-episode season; not being able to really linger with the characters while they come to terms with the events that are happening to them! LOVE the big hairy rubber werewolf suit 😭 it’s so bad, but also kinda great. And Oz gets a level up!(/curse lol) We have a werewolf in the party!

This is why I miss long format television.

Ironically, I lived near Chattanooga, TN, home of the Moon Pie.

I’m so glad you remembered Amy’s mum being trapped in the trophy 😂 such a funny callback

"Maybe Buffy takes Karate". I'll be a fun fact person. FUN FACT! SMG is a black belt in Taekwando ♥️ Edit to add: Angel Werewolf scene was like two animals growling over a meal and one backs off. // Werewolf design will dramatically change I think by the next time you see one.

Disagree, Angelus's vampire senses allowed him to know who the werewolf was, and he knew the chaos it would cause within the group.

It is tough to go through all these other changes, when going through all these changes.

around about this point in the show was when i actively started to dislike Xander, part of that is that Oz is a much better everyman character (werewolf status aside)

I think you saw too much in the Angel/Werewolf encounter. In my opinion Giles laughing at Xander's moon pie joke is one of the lowest points in the series, I don't know what the writers were thinking. Edit: The replies are making me reconsider my opinion of the joke.

I think it's funny. Xander frequently has some real zingers and Giles just acts annoyed. Xander delivers a terrible joke and Giles finally laughs.

This was a much needed episode after the heaviness of Angelus' return. Plus its great to see Willow's confidence. And I love that they dealt with a big issue (at the time) of being gay in high school. They hid a "very special episode" within a standard issue Buffy episode. So great.

There's a big hint that the bully is a red herring - they determine that werewolves only transform from the day before to the day after the full moon. He was bitten by a dog a week ago, too recently to be the previous full moon. A werewolf wouldn't look anything like a dog then.

J
Jake Allen · September 23, 2026

But wasn’t the first moon the night before? So his bite would have been 6 days before that.

Happy Tuesday Nat. I know exactly which one this is. It's always a howling success. Been looking forward to it 😊 "If it harms you, I definitely could live with that" 🤣 That hunter definitely got under your skin Nat haha. Thanks for another fun Buffy reaction today 🐺😊
