Gabi's character is essentially a mirror of Eren: raised within walls with perpetual threat of some great enemy beyond said walls. Arguably she's more directly conditioned than Eren, but right now she's living through the same traumatic event as him. And the threat has materialized into actual enemy. But she's not as helpless as Eren was back then, and she's got a gun.
Completely. AoT is also a story of perspective, or as the Owl put it, the “truth,” there being no truth. The show could have just as easily taken place from the perspective of an Eldian across the ocean and we’d be rooting for them against the islanders.
