Why'd she do that? mmmm.... you'll see.
About Ymir's name. Not REAALLY a coincidence. it's more like... she was named after the legend. It's like calling a child: Jesus. our Ymir was an orphan girl who got named after the legendary Ymir who made a deal with the devil (allegedly)
There is a character in season 4 who is widely consedered the most hated in the show. I wholeheartedly disagree. it is that hipster mustached balding monster who had Faye eaten by dogs.
Yeah, the best thing to do here is to rewatch a couple times before moving on so you get the gists
Nat is absolutely going to love S4 I can't wait
I actually love hearing your comment and thoughts just as much as the live reactions. It's why I subbed
It’s a very dense episode! Just one thing on your last topic, they said that Marley was training Eldian children to become “warriors” to use the 7 of the 9 titans it controls to attack Paradis Island, which is why they are attacking humanity in Paradise.
Natalie in this one episode reaction is closer to understanding the point of the show more than a lot of other people did watching it multiple times 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
"Marley is looking for Eldian children to train as as worrier candidates, to infiltrate Paradi to get the coordinate" that's the speech you are forgetting in your confusion why they are on Paradi island.
Oh and you are doing amazing, anyone complaining you might miss a detail or 2, forgets they had to watch the show twice to fully understand it and gather the many small details haha
One of the most shocking part of the episode for me personally was the reveal about Dina being the smiling titan. Grisha's first wife ate Grisha's second wife!
Keep coming with your theories and after thought. Even if you go back to watch clips and we cant see what ur seeing, its still entertaining
You're spot on about one of the major themes of the show: people trying to simplify complex and messy situations so that they can pretend it can be solved with violence.
AoT is an anti-war story and so many people missed the point
The thought of you walking away from the mic and then running back in like “AND ANOTHER THING!” 😂 real!!! “Split into 9” and they said Marley has 7 of the Titans… does that mean there can only be 9 human-titans at max on the planet? And Grisha’s Titan ate that royal family one and gained its power so now theoretically theres only 8..? Suddenly this feels very Highlander… I wanna see a armoured, colossal, green-eyed, Beast, Ymir Titan 👁️👄👁️
“No matter what form I take, I’ll find my way back to you” well, that makes it 10x more horrifying … she found her way back. Thinking back to Ymir’s origin story episode, and how it ended with her being stuck with a needle and thrown off that ledge… ☹️ AND I FORGOT ZEKE’S BITCH ASS WAS HIS BROTHER! GRISHA YOU WHOREEEEE
Happy Titan Tuesday Nat. This episode certainly packed in a lot of backstory about the lore of the Titans. I was trying hard to digest it all as well, but found it a little overwhelming. I'll need to sit and watch it again before your next week's reaction 😊
How refreshing to watch someone smart digest everything in this episode and already pick up on the nuance and not just blindly believe one set of people or pick a side.
Don't worry - it's interesting to us to hear you mull things over after. It's a big reveal episode and needs time to be digested.
She looked away when they said the child's name lol Also yeah watching you process things at the end was fascinating, I liked seeing it.
no nat we love the theorycrafting by all means keep putting that stuff in when you have more thoughts to work through. This is a REALLY complex show, and it unfolds like a flower the whole time. You're actually catching on to a LOT more than I did the first time through, so you're cooking, queen
Regarding our Ymir, remember in S2 when she was an orphan? The people that brought her into the cult gave her the name Ymir.
what i love, LOVE about attack on titan is we have been waiting and there has been this build up of finding the basement. i cannot remember the last time a show built up a plot point and we finally get there and it changes literally EVERYTHING about the show for the better. the plot has truly thickened! and now we know why there are titans just roaming outside the walls. the restortionists we see turned, we see some of them through the series as titans. there was a heavily bearded one, hes the one that ate eren. if youll remember, ymir was lead through the streets, to a wall and injected with something before being pushed off and turning into a titan. that wall we saw we thought was our wall but now we know its the wall they were kicking grisha and his restortionists off of. also, yes, they need to be punished for insubordination, especially in the time of war. its important that soldiers know who is in charge and the chain of command. they openly attacked and disobeyed their superior officers. just cause we like them doesnt mean they get off scott free. i was worried you wouldnt have caught on about grisha's son being named zeke. what a great reveal. and one thing i think you kind of misunderstood is when dina was explaining why the king left for the island, he left a warning. if an outside force interferes with the island then he would release the millions upon millions of titans on the world. he wasnt talking about the titans just roaming around, he was talking about the titans inside the walls, like the one we saw at the end of season 1.
You had the same reaction I did to this episode. So much shock. You might have forgotten Ymir's backstory but she was an orphan that was raised by a cult who claimed she was a reincarnation of the founding titan. So they named her Ymir after Ymir Fritz. The Titans outside the walls are just feral. They are the people that Marley turned into Titans and then exiled to the island as punishment for breaking laws. The intelligent Titans are being controlled by the Marley government. Remember how Bertholdt and Reiner refer to the people in the wall as demons? That's Marley propaganda. They tell the Eldians who live in Marley that the Eldians inside the walls are evil demons who need to be wiped out. In reality Marley wants the island for it's natural resources. Zeke seems to believe this too but in a different way. Remember when he was throwing rocks at the scouts he had a brief moment where he felt sorry for them and said this is how they are. That every single one of them will leave the walls and charge to their deaths and that it is all so pointless. Season 4 will dive into most of the questions you have about the Eldians from Marley including Zeke.
a cool little detail Dina said to Grisha right before she turned into a titan is "No matter what form I take, I promise I'll come and find you", and right when the wall got breached in episode 1, she went directly to his house lmao
this is somehow both funny and heartbreaking
Ymir Fritz and Krista's Ymir just happened to have the same name (not really, the whole lore was on Ymir's backstory) They do not have a connection or something. This episode also shows you how the world views Eldians from a Marleyan's perspective (propaganda). The show will eventually show you what really happened. So it's totally valid to be confused rn. Man, I've watched this show more than 5 times now, and I am still getting information that I never caught on my 1-4 watches. Nat, I hope you rewatch the whole show someday in the future. Totally worth the experience.
Not totally true, our Ymir was given her name by a cult on Marley who worshipped "the Founder Ymir" as they said :) So there is a connection more than just a coincidence
I had to watch this episode twice when I was first watching the show, so you're good! You did get pretty much all of the essential info :) Just one thing about Ymir (our Ymir): remember that she was from outside the walls and was taken in by a cult and given the name Ymir, which is the name of the original Titan as we learn in this episode. Ymir was then taken to Paradis and turned into a titan. But that is why they share the same name is because the Eldian "cult" on Marley gave her the name Ymir after their original leader!
I appreciate the post-episode talk even though we can't see your screen! I agree with the nuance behind who's "right"; you get the propaganda from the marleyan and eldian sides and don't know which parts are true from either side
True, so many people hear grisha talking about the "truth" and just accept it because its said by grisha. The truth is so much more black and white, and we don't know who is saying the truth and who's lying.
Thank Ymir they said Zeke is his son a second time lol
lmao i was really worried when she didnt react when they said he name the first time.
You made the connection to the Dina titan, bravo! Honestly you understood this episode the most I've seen from any reaction. These are truly S tier reactions!
omg my brain was working so hard haha, thank you!
