I know this is a very late comment...but I just gotta say that even if splitting the serum would actually work, there's only ONE Bertholdt, and two Pure Titans aren't likely to share. :)
Erwin is a good leader, but leadership is a skill that can be taught; Armin's intellect is a trait specific to him, it's a natural talent that you can't foster.
So... This comment contains no spoilers up to this point. The end credit scene that a lot of us were so disappointed you missed... it was a scene of Levi being confronted by Mikasa and Eren that is resolved in this episode, just with no context. Just leaving you with a question of "Why in the living hell is Mikasa holding a blade to Levi's neck?" I guess you could consider it a preview, but not in the "next week on Attack on Titan" sense like normal. More of a cold bucket of foreshadowing after the big triumphant send off of the scouts at the end of Episode 49. It's spine chilling to see. It leaves you with a big: "This is not gonna go as well as they are hoping" It's not the worst thing in the world to have missed it, the key ingredients are still there once you reach this point, it just makes it so when you do, you also hit with a big "OHHH Thaaat's why..." and everything makes sense in a dreadful way.
Serum Bowl!
uuugh I wish she watched the Levi eps No Regrets before this episode. Makes Levi's feelings toward Erwin so much stronger. And the eps themselves are so good. All I can hope is she watches it before S4 at least.
I’m usually late getting to these so I don’t know if you read comments at this point, but I love that you were in Armin’s corner. So many reactors thought Armin was the wrong choice but Levi chose right, as much as I love Erwin’s character. Also the Levi backstory episodes, when Levi first experiences losing men Erwin tells him to not regret it, because he’ll second guess his decisions and others will have to make the choices for him, and all that’s left is for him to die. And in this arc, that’s exactly what happened to Erwin, and Levi ended up making the choice for him.
I hope you continue Buffy at least into season 2 🫶🏼 literally one of the best seasons of television ever
Insanely tense episode. I remember Armin becoming a titan but I do NOT remember there being such an emotional choice lmao 😭 It’s played so well though. Levi’s first instinct and emotional urge is to choose Erwin, his friend, his commander, humanity’s inspiration and the guy that he had pretty much sent to his death. But the realisation that almost everyone around him, has no hopes or dreams that include seeing the outside world. They can’t even conceive of life beyond the walls and so they’re not as prepared to sacrifice for it - but Armin could 🥹 Erwin was a hero, played a crucial part in getting humanity to this point, but he made his choice. He knew he was leading the scouts (and himself) to their deaths. And Levi knew that was what he’d asked of him. To bring him back after that would be cruel Armin is the hope humanity needs 😭 and he’s back and he’s RIPPED!!!!
“Almost” broke you? lol - I was in the same camp with you when I watched for the first time. I was going to be livid if they used the serum on Erwin out of some misguided loyalty to military rank.
I mean of course you have to finish AoT, but hopefully you can continue Buffy, that show is so much fun :)
Yes. Yes, you have to finish AoT. As Erwin would say.. GIVE YOUR HEART!!!!
and now youve experienced one of the biggest divides in the fan base. personally? i think armin was the right choice, mostly because imagine being Erwin where the man you trusted the most told you "go and die" because he knew that the future would be fine in his hands. erwin made peace with his death, a death that resulted in the deaths of several dozens of new scouts as well. imagine coming back when you made peace with giving up your dream, after leading more people to die. we would not have gotten the same erwin. also, armin is a slave or drunk for something, the sea. that was the point is we all have ambitions to keep going, and levi took that away from erwin. he was no longer a slave to something, he was free. levi did that to him so he needed to hold onto that responsibility and let erwin go. its sad that it takes bert a second to realize where he is in the end. he looked at his old friends and expected them to save him, as if the last few months didnt happen. in that brief moment, he was a scout before realizing where he was at and what was happening.
RIP erwin, the goat
Another 3 episode week? thank you nat!
I can't wait until tomorrow at noon.... IYKYK
This Friday, I will be talking to you
Happy Monday Nat. Hope you had an awesome weekend too. Enjoyed catching up with you on the livestreams and hearing all your stories haha. Excited to see what happens next in AOT. And looking forward to more Buffy and Taxi Driver 😊
