The one thing that puts me off about these movies is the lack of clear motive for the villains to be evil other than generic greed and just being evil for evil's sake. The best movies makes you see both points and make you somewhat relate to the villain's point of view.
Ewya Ex Machina
I think I saw her in the first Moana.
I think the big corporations would make much more money with tourism in this planet
Quaritch and Varang matching each others freak is kind of everything 😂 The most interesting parts of this movie were definitely the family dynamics in the first half, but my god how many times will we have the exact same third act? Big army shows up, bigger good army sneak attacks and seemingly has the upper had, good guys lose the upper hand and the “DUN DUN DUN DUNNNNN” sad music plays, and then Eywa saves the day, like…
Next one gonna have element of ice. My people ✌️
Every time it looks more and more like Scorched from Tropic Thunder
The ONE time Robocop wins a poll and it gets pushed back a week 😂 Not mad tho, I didn’t even know Avatar was releasing this week, so this is a fun surprise! I watched the second one for the first time with you, so I guess this is the tradition now haha Got my drink and snacks, for this long ass movie!
Saw this in theatres with a friend when it came out. Looking forward to enjoying this reaction when this movie hits Disney+ 😁
Is this worth paying £20 for, or should i wait for it to come to Disney+?
I haven't seen it, but for what it's worth, a lot of people I know who loved the other films said this one was only "fine" ...
So many repeats from the previous film - the cg improvements are crazy good though SPOILER: honestly wish they would have taken out spider - and it was too late when Neytiri shows up, would have really made things interesting with the family dynamic
Sometimes I'm jealous of your job, and then other times I realize your job makes you watch movies on a computer monitor with the lights on. I'm so sorry you didn't get to experience this in a theater💔
Noooooo, I thought it was Robocop this week!!
My favorite in the trilogy. It feels like a perfect mix of 1 & 2. So much well written social commentary in this one too, more than the other two. Also it just absolutely rules as an action movie as well.
Happy Feature Friday. Really interested to see what you make of this chapter of Avatar. I'm one of the biggest defenders of these films, but even I had to admit that this one just didn't hit the heights of the previous two. The fact that it made $900 million less at the box office speaks volumes. There was an over-whelming sense of deja-vu watching it, and the story was definitely lacking for such a long runtime. 50% of this movie is watching it in 3D IMAX. The spectacle definitely plays a huge part. Anyway, I'm going to dive in and watch it on a 40 inch screen now and see what made it haha 😄😊 Post : I really enjoyed your reaction Nat, and your summing up was pretty fair. There are some really cool sequences in this movie. The original plan was to have 2 sets of 2 movies, but they felt there was too much to fit into the second movie so they split it into 2 films. I think all the whaling stuff could have been done once in one big sequence. It may have ended up being a 4 hour film, but I think it would have benefitted from it and removed a lot of the repetition across 2 films. Like you, I really hope they go in a completely new direction for the final 2 films.
This ended up actually getting a surprise Oscar nomination for Best Costume Design. After seeing the behind the scenes, this nomination is a rather brilliant one as the makers actually painstakingly made the costumes in the real world before rendering it in CGI.
