Poll: World Exemptions
Informal poll about how many people use the World Exemptions feature in Home Regions.
If you do, leave a comment to let me know how many Sims you give exemptions to and for what kind of purposes. If you don't, feel free to chime in on why the feature doesn't interest you. If you don't know what they are, you can read about the feature here.

I completely forgot about this mod, but I have to try it out!
Haven't used it yet, but I'm planning to for bigger saves and I think it's a good feature. If anybody knows: Is there a feature that does the opposite? Restricting certain sims from spawning in worlds or at all? I could use that too.
As others have said, I use it to allow members of my legacy families to show up in each other's worlds without having to be invited first. i don't know the exact numbers, but it includes a mermaid great-grandmother who lives in Sulani who otherwise couldn't visit Newcrest, distant cousins who live in another city, and spellcasters who live in many different worlds who need to be able to visit the isolated world of Glimmerbrook regularly.
I just got Home Regions for the Maxis lore fixed save that I am working on using as a base for a forever save file that incorporates lore from all the Sims games. I am nowhere near finishing the save, so I haven't had a chance to mess with Home Regions much. The Maxis lore fixed save file comes with a config file already set up to work with the save as intended, so I didn't actually know about this feature. However, after reading about it, I am going to say that I would definitely use it in the future. I feel like it is useful to have some Sims that move to a new world still be able to visit their home town. Or certain sims that were iconic NPCs in previous games (like Crumplebottom) should be able to show up anywhere.
if i understand the world filter exemption meaning you can select specific sims to be exceptions to whatever region rules you want, then no i dont use it. I love this mod its one of my essentials as well but I have my sims live in specific worlds for a reason- therefore when I make the general rules for each region/world, i dont find i would want my sim to be an exception- otherwise I would just have them live in another world.
Home Regions is one of my utterly essential mods. I have the global settings all set up but recently got started with world exemptions. I use them for my extended family. So I’m in a legacy challenge so there is a looooooot of family. I move them all around the worlds to where suits them best when they leave home. But quite often that means they’d be locked out of going to places my main household sims will pop up. Eg. Last kid to move out is a mermaid so I’ve built them a place in Sulani. But my HR has pretty tight rules on people who live there. So I allow my mermaid sim to go places I’ll run into them etc. It also helps make sure all of my kids can visit the main household. Because again the sims of Sulani can’t come to Ravenwood. I’d say I probably have about 35 ex household, or just family friend, with their own set of exemptions. It also helps me to free my occult children from my restrictions on where they can go. It’s one of the very first mods I check is updated. I refuse to play without it at this point. There are features I don’t understand at all though, like street weights, so I just leave them alone. Also thank you so much for the festival notifications. 5 stars.
I never actually looked at the features in the mod because Im lazy and it seems daunting. But since seeing this poll I'll be using it just as Kirsty does for my legacies.
I play occult sims and regular sims. I want occult sims to visit certain worlds and not others, for example using exemptions between Glimmerbrook and Innisgreen or Forgotten Hollow and Ravenwood. A non-occult example would be Oasis Springs and Willowbrook.
I do use it, though not in large numbers. I mainly apply it when I want Sims from my other played households to show up in the areas of different households, or for certain NPCs I particularly like. This way, they have more chances to connect with each other.
I use it for sims that have family in other worlds so if I see them in those worlds I can say that they're there visiting family :)
I've used it for my sims who by profession or aspiration or trait might travel a lot. So actor sims might show up in DSV, or archeologist sims in Selvadorada, or my politician sims in San Myshuno, etc. I also use it for my long distance lover stories (which Lot 51's Hotel Suite mod has helped so much with!), or for families with custody situations in different worlds. And I use it so sims from one world that is adjacent to another in my head can visit the other world- I have Windenberg and Nordhaven set up this way for example.
I love the concept of world exemptions, but honestly haven't taken the time to explore the feature yet. When I do, I intend to use it for spellcasters, fairies, & very wealthy sims -- basically, sims that would be able to travel easily.
Ok I use home region but didn't know about this feature also cause I haven't messed with it or taken it out of my game since it was released so I don't think I know what the game looks like without it xD I just remember hating it and putting it in my core mod folder along mccc, better exception and tmex 😂😂😂
I use World Exemptions
Yes, I use it on all my sims all the time!
Yes! I use it on every single sim!! I'm extremely finicky and specific about the worlds my sims show up in!
Hmmm, I think the only Sims I've used this feature on was a celebrity Sim, but I haven't used it in some time
I have some NPCs I use it for. Since they are basically just role fillers, I don't want them world locked as that just leads to save overpopulation and bloat.
I didn't know what the World Exemptions feature was until I checked your site. I haven't used it both because of ignorance and because I haven't really needed it. I've never had a problem with save-wide NPCs like Father Winter not showing up where I want them to. And for the most part, when I have Sims living in a certain region, I'd like them to stay in that region.
I definitely use world exemptions. I dont want to be in Willow Creek and see people from Henford or Sulani walking around. I kind of make it to where people that are neighboring worlds like Innisgreen and Henford can visit each other and so on and so forth.
In my case, like the vast majority, I use exemptions for certain types of NPCs that I do want and need to appear in all worlds.
I have different versions. One is locked down to prevent sims from traveling to regions that I believe are too far away. (Like Sulani to Willow Creek) (this is from Monday-Friday) Then I have one for the weekend so sims that are close enough to make a weekend trip somewhere can ( ie windenburg to brichester). Then my final version is during the summer and last two weeks of winter. Where sims can mostly travel anywhere. I also allow sims like the Landgrabbs to travel nearly anywhere (I can't imagine them going to chestnut ridge). Since they could afford to do so. Or have the Goths allowed to go to Henford so they could visit the Crumblebottoms.
There are certain Sims that I just want to be able to pop up anywhere for funsies. Additionally, for one save in particular I have a different group of imagined "regions" than my default, and I'd rather just set exceptions (since I can do that in game) than have to swap out settings files every time I want to play that save.
I mostly use it for celebrities and vampires because my sim couldn't do anywhere before without Judith Ward and her fans ruin the immersion near some trash can in Evergreen harbor, or Vlady hanging out in Oasis springs, fishing at night. Hahahah. This feature saved me~
I group regions like they're their own country and don't allow any travel between the countries. However, for service sims (and one others like buglars, appreciate the specific toggle for them) I don't want to create for each world so I have a pool of service sims (like maids, butlers) that I give exceptions to so they can work anywhere. As they're only employed in my played households I want to see them as I put work into making them. I also use exceptions for certain storylines, like for example I want there to be the chance of a fight between werewolves and vampires, I would give some of them exceptions so they can show up in those other worlds.
I use it to give my "international" Sims freedom of movement. I treat each world as a different country and have one from each world as a politician and able to go wherever, I've also used it for a sim I made but wasnt playing that was supposed to be a super star
I use it for all my spellcasters that can teleport (more than 10) cause, for me, it's more "realistic" that way as they should be able to go everywhere instantly with this power.
yes I use it.
I didn't know about it, but I have read about the feature and it seems like something I could potentially use now I know about it
I mostly use it for occult sims who don't live in the same region as the default world of their occult type, because it makes sense that they'd visit sometimes. Also for Father Winter and various other special NPCs who need to be everywhere. Occasionally I've had a female sim have a child with a male townie they never live with, so I turn it on for them so they can visit and generally have a relationship with their kid even if MCCC or NS has them randomly move to Sulani or wherever. Also - my selfsim is an NPC in all my saves and she's an immortal who can go anywhere, because that vaguely amused me.
Well, you just saved me typing pretty much the same thing.
I use the World Exemptions feature. And thank you so much for this mod! It's a must-have for me; I don't want to play without it.
Yes i use it. Not a lot, but for ex on sims i want to be "world travelers" like critics, entertainers, and basically any sim with 4+ fame. Also allowing occult sims like ghost hunters or complotists travel to "occult-ish worlds) (and now realizing i should read the feature page again to make sure i use it properly ahah)
Ive used it in the past but not long enough to get the full experience and am going to be giving it another try soon
I use it because I have my Sims world divided into two separate regions : the Magic world, and the human one. But, I have a few sims living in one world that I want to allow to visit the other one. Your mod allows me to set up my worlds the way I want them
I've always used it occasionally, but currently I'm using it extensively to add world exemptions to immortal NPC service sims I'm adding to my game to try and combat non-stop townie generation.
I've never had a reason to use it. I'd love the opposite of it. Make it so certain sims can't show up anywhere.
I try to keep fairies and things from my somewhat historical family.
I haven't used it yet but I probably would use it. I think it's a great feature
I was today years old when I learned World Exemptions was a thing. I am interested in trying it out.
I use it for sims who i make multicultural and or speak more than one language with frankk's language barriers mod so that they can travel "back home" or go on "vacation."
I use it for a few; especially for neighborhoods I feel like are "neighboring" story-wise
I use it for Vlad.
I don't currently have it installed because I'm trying to keep my mods foldeer as small as possible right now but I like it and have used it
I use it for townies with jobs like barkeeper and maid etc. So not every world has to generate their own ones
SAME its a lifesaver
I use it to give my famous sims the ability to show up in del sol valley and san myshuno, the celebrity hotspots worlds in my save file.
I use it often for sims who it makes sense to be seen in more than one world. I have a family who owns a company in their homeworld San Myshuno but also have opened one in San sequoia, so I set them to be able to appear there as it makes sense.
I want my custom, played household sims to be able to run into each other wherever.
Doing a forever save ATM and im restricting my occult sim (making them into small recluse towns) and copperdale and what ever else ima consider.
