It is Poirier who will not just fight anyone they put in front of him but everyone with as little downtime as his body and family will allow. It is Poirier who is arriving on fight night with new elements to his game each time and improving visibly from fight to fight. And, hopefully, it is Poirier who will be remembered for a terrific victory over a dangerous opponent, rather than being swept aside in favour of some narrative about Conor McGregor defeating himself.

Fantastic read if for nothing else but the idea of drunk men throwing shoulder strikes at one another outside the pub. I almost completely missed the right that landed before the finishing combo. Reading this encouraged me to review the fight and I finally saw it. What a strike! I also think you're on the money when you talk about how much the game has been changing since McGregor's fight-rate has slowed down. I must admit, he sounded a bit out of touch when he talked about the calf kick as surprising and "interesting" as if he'd never seen it before this bout. Thanks again!
