A quick question for SDA 4.4 testers
Yo fam,
If you played SDA 4.4 during Early Access or Open Beta, did you notice any weird or missing lightning/shock spell effects?
Some PC players on the public release are reporting missing arcs from spells like Sparks, Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning, including NPC casts. Impacts and some other effects still appear. I'm investigating.
I didn't notice this myself. I playtested SDA extensively, but admittedly wasn't really taking Serana into combat or looking closely at combat effects.
Please comment with your SDA/Skyrim versions, whether lightning worked normally or had missing effects, and whether you used Spell Toggle Expanded and/or Trueblood. A clip would help too. Thanks!
Marty

- Also quick P.S. with Ashe (and the banter integration by extension), most of the content is already in the current dev build - I just need to do more testing, polishing, and refinement. I don't want to give an early access date right now due to weird release bugs like SDA's taking up my time recently hahaha. 😅

Good news, everyone: I finally tracked this down, and the hotfix passed my tests! :) Script variable names were the culprit here: changing `generation` to `Generation` restored the lightning effects. Twelve whole test builds… for one letter. Thanks to everyone who reported this and helped narrow it down. Please try the lightning hotfix over SDA 4.4 Public RC3 (this is for Nexus users, sorry Xbox - hotfixes not supported with you guys), let it overwrite the script, and fully restart Skyrim. You don’t need to download the whole mod again. It works on my setup, but I’d really appreciate confirmation from yours! Please use the form to report either remaining problems or that the hotfix restored your lightning: https://form.jotform.com/262098993178071 Mention which spells you tested and whether the effects are back. Update will be merged into the full build (and uploaded on Xbox) if public testing is successful.
Yes, my sparks spells do not show the arcs. I made a new vortex profile with only 2 mods (SKSE and SDA) to test and they don't show up. Using Skyrim AE GOG version (1.6.1179.0.8). I also noticed Seranas mouth does not move when her dialogue plays when being healed with Necromantic Healing.
Like you Marty, I didn't take Serana into combat much during early access and open beta. For the Trueblood visual update, it might be worth looking at SkyPatcher or Recast. Either could make it easier to manage which mod has the right edits with the whole SDA, spell toggle, and a/b versions of Trueblood. Just a thought.
The only thing I noticed is some weird no audio from Serena when she is talking with Auri sometimes and that banter is VERY VERY common
