Flickering of certain inputs are now fixed. This was caused by a bug in with unmapped keyboard inputs for actions like indicators or toggling assists.
Behavior of some gamepad hold-for-some-time-to-trigger actions (like changing shift mode) has been restored to the original behavior. This was inadvertently changed during some major rework.

Hi ikt, I am writing to report a persistent Fatal Error I’m experiencing with the Manual Transmission mod. Despite having the latest version of the script and its dependencies installed, the mod fails to initialize and triggers a critical stop immediately upon game startup. Detailed Error Description: The game displays a "Manual Transmission encountered a serious error and stopped" window. This happens during the initial script loading phase. The error is preventing any gear or transmission logic from executing, rendering the mod completely inactive. I have already verified that Script Hook V are correctly updated and functioning, yet the "Fatal Error" persists every time the game reaches the world-load screen.

The latest game version is 3751.0/1013.29 and Manual Transmission works fine. If you're experiencing a specific issue, please be specific in saying what doesn't work for you specifically.

That doesn't sound familiar at all and I doubt this script can cause this.
I am running on the most current version of Enhanced and I am getting the Logging Error, even when I have turned Read-only off on the ManualTransmission folder and the files inside it.

Hello! Long time user, there's something I've always wanted to do. So far, with each version of the script I tried, it always seemed to me any car would steer way too easily at high speed (like even the minimal movement on the wheel can't make the car go straight), while it is less responsive at low speed (when it should be the contrary. Or atleast, that's what I'm used to). For example: if I'm driving on the small road on Mount Chiliad, I can't make the turns properly, because at low speed the car steers too little (especially if I steer some more, then I try to adjust the trajectory with little countersteer, but it's still little responsive). However, if I'm driving on an highway (or anyway at high speed), even if I touch the wheel just a little to adjust the trajectory, the car steers too much, which may make me lose control of it if I try to countersteer too much So, I wanted to ask: which settings do I have to change to make the wheel more responsive at low speed, and less responsive at high speed? (maybe even some kind of force feedback to simulate air friction, which is higher when going at high speed) Don't know if that changes anything, I'm using a Logitech G29
Are you using stock handling or a custom handling? I have some guides on my website that explain what happens. The steering itself is rigid and not speed-sensitive, but steering feels fine as long as you have a decent sets of settings for tires. The high slip angle and high grip from vanilla V handling is terrible and you'll want to use handling mods.

For now, try playing on servers that stayed on an old build. I'll probably push a minor maintenance update for 5.8, before I can release the major split/update.

So I installed it into my FiveM plugins folder. And then tried to use the mod on a server that would allow me to. But the mod isn't working, and the keybind to open the menu isn't either. Any reason for this?
You'd need to check the logs to know why. If the server runs the newest GTA V binary maybe that's a cause? But you'd see a message if I'm not mistaken

Hi! I've been playing with this add-on since Tuesday and it's really good. Congratulations! I'm playing Moza r5 and Moza crp 1. My experience (I had to reinstall Enhanced and Legacy many times because of different mods) is that settings_menu and settings wheel should be deleted after copying (it regenerates and immediately recognizes the 2 Mozas). It recognizes the buttons and everything perfectly. I also controlled the character with my PS controller. The mod is really good!. I stayed with Legacy, the mod has more cars, truck missions, and it also works with Enhanced. But unfortunately something happened today, maybe Windows because the update didn't fix the problem. It recognizes it but doesn't do anything. Maybe something needs to be updated but it doesn't say anything GTA V. A big handshake from Hungary. XD
If you're handy with editing config files, you can manually update the GUIDs in settings_wheel.ini if Windows changed stuff. You should be able to correlate them with the detected device reports in Gears.log.

FiveM has issues with it . AppData\Local\FiveM\FiveM.app\plugins\Gears.asi - this ASI plugin does not claim to support game build 3717. If you have access to its source code, add `FX_ASI_BUILD 3717 BEGIN "\0" END` to the .rc file when building this plugin. If not, contact its maintainer. doesnt work on 3717 and probably also doesnt work on the newest (3758 i believe).

This is on GTA V Enhanced, I presume. Check the FAQ for a fix, you need DirectStorageFix.
cant get it to work with moza r5, none of the things like wheel or pedals will map. the selected device is just my handbrake
So I've tried a few things with no luck on the Moza R5. I've tried multiple combinations of versions of MT with multiple versions of Moza drivers. And I've tried switching USB ports for my devices on my PC, with and without my USB hub. Ill keep trying things and will update if i find a solution incase someone else comes looking but I'm fairly stumped. 😅 I saw some other people asking if Moza is even supported in this mod and i know it at least used to be on whatever version was pre Chop Shop DLC, and given that the device is detected by name, but not as a valid input device in the menu is somewhat assuring.
Update: Somehow I managed to get it working through trial and error and dumb luck. I switched my USB devices around on my hub, switched to Moza patch 1.2.11, and MT 5.8.2. Now everything works as expected, though I'm unsure what exactly did it. Hopefully this is of some help regardless.

Yes, disable "Clutch shift (H)" to not check the clutch position for gear engagement.

I am using the Thrustmaster T248, and I manually set the inputs for the accelerator and steering. However, even if I press the accelerator lightly, the camera goes crazy and rotates automatically. It works fine if I switch to keyboard input, but if I use the wheel and move it just a little, the camera goes crazy again. Is there any way to fix this?
Double-check if you have any inputs mapped to camera inputs.

There is a demo mode you could've used for verification. It's compatible with Legacy and Enhanced, failure to get it to work is on your side and you're not providing any clues for me to offer help.

Hey. I had been using the mod for a while but all of a sudden im getting some logging error and it says the files have become read only. windows wont allow me to uncheck the read only option in file properties either. What can i do for this?
Hi! If this is GTA V Enhanced, please check out the latest post. It's Rockstar pushing an update to DirectStorage that locks all files, but there are workarounds now.
Everything but the steering works in game. All controls were correctly mapped and installed the script (gears.asi, ManualTransmission folder) in the GTA directory. The script detects the steering wheel controller and syncs with it when moved, but the wheels of any vehicle in the game fail to move. Not working for GTA5. I copied gears.asi and ManualTransmission folder in GTA local directory. Also copied dinput8.dll, scripthookv.dll in gta local directory. When running game its crashing and giving this error in BattleEye: 15:56:02: [INFO] Blocked loading of file: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\dinput8.dll". Tried multiple solutions,at the end subscribed to the patreon. Please help.
You do need to disable BattlEye for using mods in SP. This is in the instructions of ScriptHookV itself.

I downloaded the files, installed the system, but in the game, the tires turn when the car isn't running, but the steering wheel turns when the car is moving.
I don't understand your description and would need more information (or rather, a clearer description) to go off of.

If you're on Enhanced, check the latest post. Otherwise upload log files of your situation.
Is the script Fiveme compatible, and does the server owner also need to purchase it?
It can run if the server allows it - as a client script - but it cannot be provided by a server.

I can't do much with a nonspecific "It's not working for me". Make sure that scripts in general work and then install Manual Transmission and if something doesn't work, be specific about WHAT doesn't work. See the manual for some common troubleshooting help.

How to fix manual transmission and its subfolder are set to read only and showing logging error . Even Though, I have fixed read only multiple times but error popping again. Please suggest a fix.
This is currently a known issue with the latest update for GTA V Enhanced, and all scripts can run into this. You may copy the ManualTransmission folder to %localappdata%\ikt\, see the readme for more info how that works.
I also can't login after GTA5 (Legacy) updated on the weekend (Dec 2025 update). I get: "FATAL: Unknown game version, check http://dev-c.com for updates" error
Yes, the error tells you what to do. You need to update Script Hook V.

Awesome mod works as intended, only question I had is with the force feedback. I'm on a 8nm CSL DD and force-feed back kind of feels like an arcade game. Too strong at times, not enough in others. Running at 900 degrees rotation and mostly stock settings. Was just hoping for some settings that will make it feel more realistic if possible. Thx for a great mod!

Hey, I downloaded the mod and everything that goes with it. I'm playing on the enhanced version along with the NaturalVision mod. All the menus appear and everything seems to work, except for the driving. The only device detected in the menu is my keyboard. I have a G923 with pedals and a gear shifter. Can you help me? All my mods are up to date, it shows that as well.

That shouldn't happen. Can you turn on debug info and look at what the force feedback values are doing if you are stopped but the wheel is going insane?

While you're an active Patron, you can generate as many licenses for as many different computers as you want.
Hey bro, I got last script hook, I did installed all accordingly to the guidelines and yet my in my game nothing pops um when I press the menu key or I type the cheat code. You can use a camera mod to lock the camera to the vehicle.
Also, another question: Is there an option for gear-reduction braking? For example, if I’m going around 80 and shift down to gear 2, I would expect the engine to brake. If not, please consider adding this <3

I absolutely love this mod. I've used it for years when it was free and now as a paid member. One issue I keep having is that when I reload gtav, even though MT is enabled, all my control settings seem to be forgotten. The vehicle tries to move forward but it only goes 2 mph or so. Once I go back into MT settings, and setup my analog settings again, it works again no problem. Any idea why in this most recent version for me, the controls aren't saving? Thanks!
It shouldn't be that way. Do you see the settings being written to the settings_general.ini and settings_wheel.ini?
hey everything works perfect like the throttle and brakes but when i try to shift it does not let me. I already assign the buttons but somehow still doesn't work for me. Please HELP
Make sure you're pressing the correct buttons for the specific gearbox modes. Sequential accepts shift up/down, automatic accepts shift up/down only between R/N/D, H-pattern only accepts direct shifting (and you need to press the clutch depending on your settings).

Hey, is this compatible with RPH (RagePluginHook) ? I just wanted to try it ingame and while I was setting it up it crashed RagePluginHook.
I don't know what RPH does. It shouldn't interfere at least as MT just patches some vehicle stuff. Logs from both would be helpful but I'm not familiar with what RPH is doing

You can't assign controller inputs, but you can use "Wheel to Key" in the button assignment to assign any wheel button to a keyboard button.
I'm currently running this on the latest enhanced version and everything seems to work except Adaptive AWD. It says that HandlingReplacement.ASI is missing. The problem is I've downloaded and placed it into my GTA directory but it's still not working. I found a log for the ASI and it says [ ERROR ] Couldn't find GetAddressOfEntity Is there a fix for this or is it something that enhanced can't run with? Other than that this has been a great mod.
I haven't ported that yet. I do plan to, but currently I need to focus on some personal matters.
i just bought my whole driving setup, monza wheel and petals and thrustmaster shifter, just to be able to drive. I reinstalled the enhanced addition, setup manual transmission 5.8.2 and scripthook newest, and the game freezes. in the same spot. Just when i get in a car to drive. Everytime. Soooooooooooo frustrated. Any ideas?

It only activates in first person. Do note there may be an issue with independent camera modes and the script doesn't recognize the first person view properly unless you cycle cameras.

Then it appears you may not have all prerequisites. Make sure you have a basic installation working, like Simple Trainer.

I would like to request two things or rather suggest two things for the mod... 1st that there be options in the settings to interact with police cars, for example, it is not possible to turn on the siren. 2nd that it be possible to use the truck gear shift, as I have the knob to engage higher gears, but the MOD does not have this option. If you could do this I would be very grateful =) and by the way, congratulations on the mod, it is very good, I am having a lot of fun.
1 - You can use the WheelToKeyboard button mapping to map the button to E (or whatever keyboard key is horn). That's how I use it. 2 - The game only supports 10 gears. The mod is agnostic to its inputs, if the button changes the outputted buttons after pressing, that should work transparently. That's how my SHH shifter differentiates between 3rd/4th and seq down/up with a switch. Otherwise there's indeed no software mapping for this.
Hi! I really enjoy your mod and I wanted to ask if it has (or could have) a feature that limits the car’s speed based on the current gear, similar to real life. For example, in first gear the car would only accelerate up to a certain speed before I need to shift to the next gear.

Then you probably haven't configured everything correctly? If a button or axis somehow doesn't register correctly, please ask for help on the Discord and be sure to include a log file.

Hey, I'm dual booting windows 7 and 10 with GTA installed on 10 at the moment. Will the license that I made for Windows 10 still apply to Windows 7, and if not, can I run the license generator in 7 without GTA installed? Just so I can get rid of Windows 10 if I choose to. Great mods btw
Yeah you can run it in both, as long as you're logged into Patreon on whatever machine or install you have going on

Maybe a wild idea, but could your 'Dynamic Vehicle First Person Camera', handle Head Traking (OpenTrack/TrackIR API), doesn't need any extra interface, everything is configurable on the tracker app outside the game And even wilder idea suport for LightGuns (RawInput) for aiming/shooting independently of the camera position haha

Mostly a handling mod that's somewhat realistic. I haven't used any in a long while though so I can't advise. Also afaik there shouldn't be a difference between Legacy and Enhanced for simple handling.meta mods.
