Processing layered breaks [VIDEO]
Hey ya'll!
Chopping Science vol. 2 will come in Feb, but peep this!
I wanted to share a few techniques in layering drumbreaks.
Going thru some plugins and techniques to really squeeze some added tone out of a supporting break while keeping a main break on top.
I can guarantee there’s especially one plugin you’ve probably never used before which can really enhance the energy in the signal.
Add these tips to your mixing/processing toolbox and start creating your own monster layer breakbeat with a dope tone!
Also dropping a tip on a new break for you that you prob don't have…great for jungle and hip hop.

Great tips here. trying some out now, seems so obvious. good sounds. I use kilohearts transient shaper.
Hey, great ideas. Video reminds me of Trackspacer plugin which could do a little bit better job in terms of supporting track instead of sidechaining compression. It reacts to spectrum not the level itself so i guess supporting track could fit a little bit better to primary one. Just a thought and having my good understanding of what you're doing.
This is awesome and very inspiring. I think I don't put enough attention into how I layer my breaks in terms of deciding which is the leader and which is the supporter.
Sometimes things can work really nice all equally, but sometimes it gets messy and takes work!
Check out ST4B from LHI Audio. Wicked multiband transient shaper
The SPL Transient Designer Plus is great for this too. The Impact plugin you're using is currently on sale
The breaks really came to life and sounded so cohesive! Wow!
