Breakbeat Of The Month #14: breakspotting and break healing! (DJ Die & Break)
A Patreon member sent me this break and told me it's used in a really slamming DNB tune, so I did get all stoked! I've been playing it as a DJ myself. What tune?
You'll hear in the video of course. Not sure it's been used elsewhere.
The drumbreak really needs some help - listen to the preview! - but hey I think I made it sound pretty nice to be honest. Thanks to all the modern processing, we salvage this tinny breakbeat and make it sound good!
I do see a full Fanu tune incoming.

I started playing around with this break and then ended up making an entire track! Thanks, it was a blast.
Oh nice one! 🥁
Ez Fanu, just joined to show support and glean some nuggets of wisdom. The Bloom plugins, are there other equivalents that do a similar thing? I don't have those in my arsenal but liked what they did to the sound. However, rather than spending money on them there might be something else that could do a similar job that costs me zero (hopefully) A great series btw
Hi Colin - great seeing an absolute producer legend like you here! I’d say I know of one: Waves Curves AQ. It can also both boost and cut, and can be decent for complex signals. I’ve used it on a few masters. Worth trying out the demo!
Love this and Break and love Slow Down by Break. great tune.
One thing I've been meaning to ask that sort of came up here- how frequently do you get a break and just chop it into beat divisions rather than trying to get the transients right? It seems like another way to get the swing but I'm sure there's some sort of trade-off
I never chop by divisions.
Tune! I recently revisited it which is super cool to see you cover it.
Love the Dirt Side)))))
All about the dirt :D
Good to see this series back!
Yessir :) Breaks for life!
