Creating a healthy bassline with movement
I have mixed and produced hundreds of basslines and want you to get it right, too.
Creating a strong bassline will make sure the low end hits well, is heard from laptop speakers too, and isn't just a stale element in your song.
No tricks needed, no mix bus emphasis: just the right material from the start.
I recently created a bootleg remix of a Post Malone song that will be premiered at a World Cup game in the US, and the bass has to hit.
I will probably cover this song a bit more on Patreon - let me know if you guys want to see (I only sampled the vocal and did the rest myself). Much more video stuff on production + mixing coming.
Let's take a look at how to create an actually healthy and weighty bassline that cuts properly through the mix.
Let's get the fundamentals right to avoid a lot of further headache in mixing.
Let's also talk aesthetics: how a bass serves a song.

see the content in my Bass Collection to help you get your bass right in every department.
BTW I am giving out Gold Clip for one paying subscriber next week - take a look HERE.
Let's also create some further tone and movement that makes it more interesting using one of the most popular saturators on the market, Fabfilter Saturn, which actually offers way more than immediately meets the eye. We will have the plugin modulate parameters, and we will automate some manually. This will take your bassline from "ok but working" to more professional one that isn't boring.
You can use techniques to create a subtle bass that cuts thru the mix, or create some absolute filth by pushing it with this tool.

Nice! Shades of oldschool dubstep there haha
You can’t take oldness out of man :D
This is good, thanks. I don't have Saturn but thinking this could be done with Shaperbox, which I have.
It’s a GREAT plugin. But kind of loop/sequence-based. But yes you could automate its parameters 👌🏻😎
