Brilliant as always and yes, I do like it. Love the Crystallizer effect in the vocals. Sounds so good 👌
Yeah Crystallizer is great!
Amazing master class dude!!
Great masterclass and excellent advice on selecting drum hits carefully to create progression and energy!
Nice. Thanks for the insights. What are you doing with the kick/snare layer EQ?
Seems im just doing a negative low shelf to take out some lows, and had raised low-mids with a bell at 500 Hz by 0.5 dB. Nothing major; just making sure it's not super heavy but has some presence in low-mids where I want its body to be heard.
Another great masterclass! I'm interested in your thoughts on bass punch. I've taken to heavily sidechaining bass to kick in my tracks so that the bass gets cut completely whilst the kick is hitting. I guess this is a more "modern" style of mixing. So it makes no sense to have a punchy bass as the bass transient gets ducked if it hits at the same time as the kick. How do you mix kick and bass in your tracks? Are you compressing the bass some as the kick hits to prevent a spike in level and then mastering to a less intense loudness than a lot of new dnb?
Punch has its place: bass can of course hit between kicks too. A lot of my bass sidechain just ducks the subs. I rarely do audible bass pumping. For sidechain, I often use Soothe2 to duck the kick subs, mostly. Nothing more drastic than that. It's pretty fast. My own DNB stuff is around -6 LUFS but I do handle the louder -3 stuff for clients sometimes; kick/bass treatment is often the same. Just the master is different: Kraftur instead of limiters if I need to get mega loud. Sometimes I limit the bass bus by around 3 dB, often using Ableton Limiter for that.
Love the track! Looking forward to buying the released product!
