Breakbeat of the Month #11: A SOURCE DIRECT break (and a bass health check) [video, sample download, Ableton project]
Been wanting to dig up this old juicy classic for my own use for some years.
Funny or not, I am not sure if I have ever used it? So, all the more reason to prepare it: working on plenty of beats atm, so wanted to prepare this Drum Rack and also get some processing going.
Adding a little bassline and speaking a little bit about "bass health".
Happy midsummer ya'll!

Do you have a link for the SAMPLER 2025 preset that you used?

Thank you! Very interesting. I used this Break once and I found it very difficult to chop it differently to not sound like all the other tracks with this break. One question: what difference does it make, when choose only mono in the utility? Do you usually set those old breaks to mono?
Mono creates a mono sum signal from the left and right, which can be very different, just like this break demonstrates. With many drumloops, it makes no big difference, but some old funk breaks have notably different left and right, so trying out either, or mono, is worth it.
Thanks for getting into this break. I've been told it's one I should be checking out, so I may look into incorporating it. I definitely appreciate the talk on bass as well. :)
If you could do a tutorial how to get one of the other breaks in this track (dyke and the blazers) to sound like it does in Black Rose and Concealed Identity
Will check that out when I have a moment, so a good idea, thanks for that!
Black Rose is my jam! The hyena samples finish me off!
