LOVESTUCK - EPISODE 37

This was a great chapter exploring more of Kino. Starting with Jake being concerned for Kino overworking himself so early in the semester. Again, I love seeing Jake's concern for Kino and giving a friendly reminder about how his parents can help pay his tuition. Which, I can also respect Kino for the reason why he wants to pay for his own. Especially seeing more of his backstory and how much Jake's family did for Kino and Cassie. Yet, I can't help but feel that Kino is putting WAY too much pressure on himself with the idea of compensating for the good will he and Cass received. Then moving onto the topic of tutoring and how Kino was temperamental when he was younger. And Jake accidentally stepping on an uncomfortable reason why and how he quiets quickly and decides to move on by wishing Kino the best with Noel's tutoring. Leading to transition is Kino reflecting on his past attitude due to his dad. What a rough thing to watch and to see the bright eyes turn those dark swirls as something breaks(great effect overlay on that panel). Seeing how Cassie runs away with Kino in the middle of a snowy December. His thoughts on snow and ending with the idea that there might be snow is a good way to end this reflective chapter. Besides exploring Kino's character more, I enjoyed how Jake had some eyebags in the morning and during the whole talk with Kino. Along with Rowe also passively being in earshot of the whole conversation and focusing on him at times. Wonder what was going through his head? Also him looking for his other shoe at the end had me chuckling. Long comment short, this was an enjoyable chapter to read. I like how Kino was asleep while we were shown what happened when he was younger. Great transition between things and also showing how tired he is already. Thank you for the chapter. I was like, “why does Jake look different???” Doy his top knot is down. I also like how well you made Rowes presence known between the convo of Jake and Kino, despite him being silent the entire episode. Cant wait for the next one!
