After some testing as a work-in-progress release, the changes look to be stable. As mentioned in my previous post, the biggest change with this release is an overhaul of the OpenGL code used for rendering the mod manager UI. I'm hoping this will resolve compatibility issues with certain AMD cards. If not, then at least this version includes an additional check and troubleshooting message if an incompatible OpenGL API version is detected.

I've also added support for the Game Pass/Windows Store version of RE8. And PAK mod installation has been fixed for the Pragmata demo.

I don't like how this is becoming a trend, but I fixed yet another issue with Stellar Blade support in mod manager. Certain CNS mods wouldn't have their JSON file copied to the right location. That's fixed now which makes more Stellar Blade mods able to be installed without having to do changes to its directory structure.

And one change that makes me ever so slightly bitter because it ended up looking better in Windows 11 rather than Windows 10 (I'm stubborn and I'm keeping Win10 for as long as I can on my primary PC). I looked into darkening the title bar for the mod manager (something I feel makes perfect sense as the mod manager has always gone for a darker look). I'm doing this using the Windows API and Win11 gives you more options here. For Win10 I can only choose between all black or all white, but Win11 lets me choose any colour for the title bar.

For Win10, it is possible to tell the Windows API "just let me handle it" which give the application responsibility for rendering the entire title bar, but I didn't feel like doing all the work necessary for that. Not only do you have to replace the title bar drawing, I think you also need to write code for title bar logic (dragging it, minimize button, etc).

Anyway, this means the title bar in Win11 matches the colour theme of the application where the title bar is grey, while in Win10, the title bar is black. I've got example images at the top of this post.

Change log:

  • RE8: Added mod managing support for Game Pass/Windows Store release.

  • Fixed PAK mod installs for Pragmata demo.

  • Added a check and a warning if too low of an OpenGL version is detected.

  • Major overhaul of OpenGL code.

  • Stellar Blade: Fixed a bug that could prevent CNS mods from being installed to the correct location.

  • Darkened the title bar.
