🛠️ Upgrading Foundation, and I needed a new shed
You might have noticed that it has been a while since the last major update to WickedWhims. I'm sorry I haven't communicated more frequently about how things are going. I've been deeply focused on upgrading the fundamental structure of the mod, addressing some of the long-standing gameplay and development issues.
All of my time is still dedicated to improving and expanding WickedWhims, so after 10 years of development, some of the underlying architecture needed to be modernized. Besides upgrading the foundation of the mod itself, I also spent some time building a "new shed" to make space for new tools that will make future development much smoother and faster.
I wish I could actually show you a real fancy shed I built, filled with brand-new shiny tools, so I could brag about it! But the virtual equivalent of it is there, providing everything I need to make the mod better and continue developing it.
🕹️ It might be small, but still satisfying
I admit, traditionally I've loved delivering feature-packed updates that aim to impress. While I've always felt that was the "right" way to do things, it isn't the most sustainable approach long-term. Obviously I'm mentioning this to say that I need to shift my release strategy.
Moving forward, updates have to be smaller, ideally more frequent, and hopefully delivered in a way that doesn't constantly disrupt your fun by asking you to download new files all the time. This more focused development approach means less waiting between updates and a more regular release of new things to play around with.
🐍 And Now for Something Completely Different...
In an effort to stay in touch and connected with The Sims 4... I play the game, of course, and once in a blue moon I refresh my save file by rebooting my favorite years-long running stories into a brand new save file. This involves cleaning out my Mods folder to remove things I no longer need.
I can proudly claim that I keep my Mods folder pretty organized, but I actually don't even know if I've ever used half of the CC I installed. I could delete all of that unused CC, but I don't always know which CC files are actively being used in my save. So I tried to solve this problem.
It's a tool dedicated to detecting exactly which mods are actually present in a save file you select, allowing you to safely delete unused mods and keep your game running smoothly.
A disclaimer is necessary, this is an experimental project! It is still unfinished and might potentially never be released to the public if I encounter too many technical roadblocks. Still, I thought it was a cool concept and I wanted to share it with you all 😄

WickedWhims is my strangely beautiful and unique creation. I think I'm pretty good at making it, and I genuinely enjoy playing with it and sharing it with all of you. Your support throughout these past ten years means everything to me.
It has been a long journey, and I am fully dedicated to continuing it for all the players sticking with The Sims 4.
And I'm very interested to see what the next major entry in the series might bring...

So many modders have come and gone - not completing projects, not updating when updates are necessary. But Turbo, you've stood the test of time and frustration with a dedication to the game and fanbase unlike so many of those others. My hat's off to you, and my undying appreciation. Keep on keeping on, my friend.
my game keeps crashing because of wicked whims and am on the latest of both game and mod update when ever it crashes it gives me a wicked last exception
Hey! Can you share your exception? Either via a service like pastebin or similar, or by sending it through email?
My current error: This error is caused by a mod conflict or out-of-date scripts in The Sims 4, specifically involving a clash between WickedWhims and Lumpinou's Relationship & Pregnancy Overhaul (RPO). The file _ts4_pregnancy_offspring.py belongs to WickedWhims. When a Sim is created or becomes pregnant, both mods attempt to inject code into the same pregnancy tracker, causing a script collision ('NoneType' object has no attribute 'matches_bit'). The problem is I do not have Lumpinou installed.
Hi! If you don't have Lumpinou installed, how did you come to the conclusion that it's that that is causing the issue?

Hey. How is it breaking for you exactly? You can report it either how you did just now on Patreon (although it's better to do so under posts with the actual download), you can reach out through email, or report an issue on Discord.
Hey Turbo, I wanted to know if you have a WW mod for Inzoi?
Hi. No, there's no such mod. Matter of fact I've seen information on the internet that seems to suggest someone has "appropriated" the Wicked name by creating something called WickedZoi or something like that, which I've also seen others investigate and call out on being suspicious and potentially dangerous, so consider this a PSA and avoid those, or at the very least - do your due dilligence and research them thoroughly before you download anything. TURBO himself does not make any mods for inZoi, nor are they in his plans so exercise caution.
Hi! I’ve been having trouble playing The Sims 4 since the latest update. The game crashes whenever WickedWhims is installed, but works normally when I remove it. I’m using the latest Patreon version, already deleted localthumbcache.package, and I’m on Mac/Apple Silicon with game version 1.128.90. Has anyone else had this issue or found a fix?
Hey. Do you have any other mods installed? Can you test with just WW, nothing else and see if you run into the issue again then?
Is anyone else having trouble getting mods and script mods to enable in game? the settings won't save and wont boot up with mods enabled.
No, I found it odd actually my scrips and mods weren't disabled after updating.

Besides using Tray Exporter I have never had a way to safely go through my pile of shame (200+ GB of mods) because I don't know what is what and if I can delete it without ruining my long running saves. I greatly look forward to your project. Thank you!

I'm legit organizing my cc and updating it rn bc its way to heavy and I have to cross check with S4S and S4MM to figure out if its used or not and still risk the deletion of used CC, so I wouldn't care if the tool is experimental, if it makes me save a fraction of precious time ill take it plus bonus on load time :) backups exist for a reason~!

That CC mod sounds amazing. I was just thinking that I could use that. I also have a ton of CC but I'm not sure which items are currently needed for my saves and which aren't. Something like that would be great to have.

Turbo, glad you're doing this, and I don't think the game would be as great without you or deaderpool. Since I can't code but do the security side, I thank you wholeheartedly for putting in the time and energy. I think giving away one of the expansions is a great way to give back. I won't be voting since I own all the DLCs available. But keep at it, and again, thanks for what you do.

I have always wanted a tool like that!! There are times my ADD brain and I go to update my CC/mods after a patch and I end up downloading more CC, cause they are so beautiful! But I know I probably don't use half the CC I have.
OMG Turbo! i hope pray, fiend and stalk the digital gawds for you to release that tool! i had this EXACT thought just yesterday! My mods folder is 550 gb and i want to do a fresh start but didn't know what is used on my saves! i thought about using tray importer to just export the saves but then thought about how long that would take! puhleasaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee release that tool when you get it all tweaked out!

Thank you for all your hard work. I've always thought that Wicked Whims was the glue that has held the Sims 4 together all this time. Sure, people can play without it and enjoy the game, but I would bet the majority of the player base would be gone if it wasn't around. Its almost a necessity for most of us.
Great respect for your effort for these last 10 years! I don't know if I ever dedicated myself to something for so long. SYVR also made a tool to see which cc is used and unused in your game. Maybe check to see if the system and outlook is not too similar, so it will not look like stealing (which we now know it isn't but better safe than sorry). voted for the royalty and legacy pack. I've started making a fantasy save and this would be a great addition. I hope more people will vote for the other pack, as R&L is now on 43% 🤭

The CC tool sounds like good news!
I would still think it's cool if your "Undressable" feature would work automatically during sex or stripping without having to click on anything manually. Imagine sim girls in the strip club dancing on the pole or doing a lap dance and gradually automatically dropping their covers.

Been a long time fan of your mod 😍 I've even had some hilarious gameplays whilst using it, wish I could share a video on here of what I captured during prom once (it was SFW, part of the bump and grind feature) Although occasionally I want to remove Tom peeping I just can't, he's now a townie in my eyes. That CC tool... my mod folder is 35gb and must be as old as you've been working on WW. Would be godsend!
It's good to see you are doing well. I'll admit I was a bit worried, when I haven't seen anything new for WickedWhims latel y. Your mod has come a long way and I admire the amount of work and effort you keep putting into it. Let those words be encouragement for you to keep up the great work you have done so far. One other thing: About the problem with the opportunity partner's autonomy I told you about. I was able to find out more with the ww.test_sex_autonomy-command. The setting regarding *Relationship Awareness* seems to disregard the opportunity partners since they are not recognized as sex pairs, when they are on the same lot but it still works if they are off the lot. I noticed that I had this setting enabled when I made further tests on my end to find the culprit. I do not wish to pressure you into fixing this bug. I just thought it might valuable info for you to have in case you want to further look into it. A workaround on my side is to disable relationship awareness for now. It does bring some weird results where one sim asks a good friend if they want to do it even though they are not opportunity partners but I can work with the custom protocols to limit that kind of autonomy or just reject within the dialogue box itself ;)
